All players that have been discussed are ELITE players. I have had strong reservations about Aaron, Gehrig and Mantle, but I never thought of any of them as anything short of ELITE. I don’t think anyone has seriously argued against anyone yet because the person in question just wasn’t any good.

We may be outside the GOD-level players at this point, but we are still talking about all-time greats who are inner-circle HOFers.

outside the god-level... but we do have 2 current god-level potential... with Judge and Ohtani...

too difficult to rank as top 10... but they could both be top 20 just for how good they have started their careers...

Ohtani is more of a unicorn at this point. Both God tier but also impossible to properly compare

Pedro doesn’t belong in that convo. I would look at Maddux and Satchel both before him.
The hell he doesn’t! He was absolutely unhittable in an era when all the players were juiced. He just didn’t have the durability of a Clemens or a Maddux. If you could pick 1 of those 3 at their peak to start a must-win for you, I think most would take Pedro.

Pedro was dominant... but he is a lot like Koufax... where he just doesnt have the longevity to compete with the others who have had just as good of a peak...

Maddux vs Clemens vs Randy

Seaver vs Nolan Ryan vs Carlton

Gibson vs Spahn

yes... agreed... he is a unicorn... that is why i have him in the top 10 already

But Judge is putting up dominant numbers- not quite bonds like... but his top 2 seasons have been best that we have seen since... and that is better than Griffey, Pujols, etc...

He does have 3 votes. I definitely think Pedro vs Maddux is a conversation but I would have Rocket ahead of both. Honestly not even sure how to rank Young or Paige
I have been vocal about Roger being my #1 pitcher, so I didn’t include him in my response as he is assumed, imho.

One game?

Timmeh or King.

I think I'd take Seaver over a lot of these guys tbh. Not Clemens.

@calsnowskier Is Thome on the list of nominees because of the high HR total? I don’t see him as one of the all-time-type guys at 1B. I might even prefer a Frank Thomas or Bagwell. Miguel Cabrera, McCovey & Eddie Murray probably all in the mix, too.

I would be ok with Seaver in the REAL debate for #1 pitcher ever (or, #2, since Johnson is already scientifically established as #1)

He was one of the “random” rotation players yesterday and received a vote. Thats why he is back today.

I won’t defend or attack any players past that. You may think I have a rigorous vetting system for the rotational players, but there isn’t. I just throw up names who I think have any argument whatsoever for inclusion. I keep adding until I run out of space, then I delete the last name I entered and put in the “Other” option in that slot instead.

Robin Yount
Yeah, Yount is a good one. It took him a few years to figure it out offensively, but that's just because they stuck him in the big leagues right out of high school.

I agree on Pedro. Reminds me of the guy who said to start a must win game you'd have to take Mahomes over Brady.

Judge has been great, but he'll be 33 this year. How long do Giants live?
