My team will be a non factor, but it's all about the young guys. We finally have some blue chip prospects that I hope make significant progress. I hope Johan has a solid first half so we can flip him at the deadline to a contender. I'll also be rooting for the Blue Jays since they got Reyes and Dickey, plus I love Joey Bats.

I'm not 100% about what the Mariners look like, but Texas in my mind is significantly worse off than they were last season, and Oakland is an or injury or 2 to their pitching staff away from being very mediocre. Maybe you don't win it but I would say competition dropped off a bit in the AL West.

yes, I'm hoping to enjoy watching Texas sucking this year. Figure we'll be behind the California teams, and if we're lucky may pass one of them.

I'm actually excited for a Mets season for the first time in years. They'll miss out on the playoffs but should be entertaining to watch, especially if they sign Michael Bourn.

I'm just hoping for a season where the Yankees and Red Sox, and to a lesser extent, the Dodgers and Angels are irrevelant.

Except for an anemic playoff performance by the Yankers, you were close last year.:clap::clap:

If they sign Bourn they also lose their 1st round pick. It's going to be a tough decision for the org.

Yeah I'm torn on that. He would fill a number of needs including a solid defensive CF, leadoff hitter and he steals bases. Word is the Mets would appeal the loss of a draft pick and the MLBPA might have their back on it. So far that seems to be the big hold up.

So excited, but tempering that excitement because, let's be real...I'm a Pirates fan. I just want the playoffs man. Is that too much?

I understand the Mets position on it because they would have the 10th pick if the Pirates had signed Appel. However, teams knew the rules going into the new system. It would open up a can of worms. Other teams would want the same thing if it happened to them. It's a tough call.

It's hard for me to get excited about this season. My Padres are going to be battling the Rockies for the basement.

Proven Major League contributors are always more valuable than draft picks, no matter how high. The question of whether or not the Mets should sign Bourn should hinge more on the money and whether or not now is a good time to allocate those funds than it does on losing that draft pick. At least that's how I would be operating in their position.

Top 5 picks are 60% successful or something like that. The rest of the first round is generally around 40-50%, generously. There are no sure things.

Gosh I hope so...I really, really hope so. I was ONE when they were last in the postseason. ONE YEAR OLD. I need to see that. I love the Fall Classic, but gosh I want to experience that with MY team. I honestly do think they'll break .500 this year. They've only added talent to the roster. People complain about the deals made, but they're low risk, and they're still upgrades. Russ Martin>>>Rod Barajas, Liriano+Sanchez>>>Correia. Cutch is going to explode this year, I really think last year was merely the start. The division is achievable too...Reds like to alternate good/bad years, so they'll be down, and the Cards are always up and down in regular season.
