This rumor hasn't died - despite my efforts to kill it as a bad idea. To believe in Romo for the Broncos you pretty much have to believe he will be a guy who can dramatically lower the odds of the Broncos getting to the Super Bowl next season. I think also - you are talking low double figures with incentives and out clauses against the cap. Either Lynch or Siemian would have to be traded as well. John Elway continues to push his opportunities down the road, but I don't like this one.

Too much money to spend on a QB for a team that has multiple other needs. We can't keep recycling old quarterbacks. Sooner or later, the Broncos need to have the franchise QB of the future. I think both of our young guys have pretty strong upside and would like to see the Broncos continue to give them the opportunity to fit the bill. Just my opinion of course.

If Romo is brought in and takes us to another World Championship, then I will of course deny ever having taken this position.

I've been reading that Elway may be interested in Romo if he is released by the Cowboys. I have always thought Dallas would end up releasing Romo rather than finding a trade partner..but I am not so sure some desperate team won't pony up and trade for him now.

Interesting scenario. Kinda similar to Elway bringing in Manning for one "last hurrah". Of course Romo doesn't have the pedigree Manning had and the injury concerns may possibly be greater than when Peyton was brought in. On the flip side, Elway was going to have to deal with the Tebow phenomena and didn't have two young, promising QB's waiting in the wings.

It is never dull in Broncoland!

Are the injury concerns for Romo any worse than they were for Manning? With Manning there were questions he'd even be able to deliver a decently thrown ball.

Still, I'm against this idea. I've said already, assuming an improved O-line, with Romo the Broncos go 13-3 and then tank in the divisional round of the playoffs. With Lynch or Siemian the Broncos go 10-6, maybe 11-5, win one in the wild card round and likely get bested by a better team in the divisional round. But in this scenario they've invested in their future with the younger QB. I'd rather seem them go Option B1 or B2 here than pursue Romo.

A HEALTHY Romo and they would be SB contenders. But Romo has shown he can't even take a hit anymore, so I say pass

Not a fan of Romo coming to Denver. Too much money and he is way too fragile. We need to bolster our Oline, Dline, and find an ILB. That might be more then we can get with our current cap space.

I'll be the voice in the wilderness - if he is cut and we get him with a reasonable two year deal, I'd take him and let Lynch learn under him for a couple of years.

So vote too Romo. ;)

Siemian Isn't an iron man either if he is our starter. He needs to get stronger and I don't know if he is injury prone as well.

Agreed and he did have injuries at Northwestern but if Romo can't stay healthy behind the Dallas Cowboys o line what makes anyone think as of now with the money that would be spent on Romo that he would stay healthy behind the trash the Broncos send out on a weekly basis on the o line? Any QB behind the Broncos o line last year would be injury prone. When you can't run the ball and teams are coming just after the QB what the Broncos offense was last year is and will for the most part be the end result. GARBAGE Peace.

The question is: Is the Denver roster a top 10 QB away from Super Bowl Contention. If yes, then sign Romo. If not? Let Lynch start. If Lynch is the starter, playoffs should be the goal with a look more at 2019-2020 as the years of our super bowl window opening again. You run the risk of the defense falling off tho and not being elite.

If romo is cut and wants to come here cheap (10ish per year on 1 to 2 years) I am for it.

With a defense giving up 18 ppg and an average offense scoring 24 a game, a TD differential is a Super Bowl team. Can Romo convert a FG to a TD a game. I would say yes. Plus waiting 2 years for Lynch has wasted 3 years of Miller.

What Romo would bring is insurmountable as far as veteran leadership. I just don't think he would hold up. He would make us an instant contender however

If Trevor has a legitimate shot at winning the QB job in 2017 then let the 2 kids fight it out
but if the odds are stacked in Lynch's favor , trade Trevor, bring in Romo and Lynch can sit and watch knowing he is Denver's Arron Rodgers

In one sense - it really is all about what the Broncos have to pay for Romo and what they figure they can get out of him. I like @CEH above comment about making it a decision related to the overall decision about Siemian.

Romo is only useful in this equation if the Broncos can get him on the cheap - which I would define at around $10 million -or maybe $7 million if Elway is feeling like Kapnerneck about the whole deal. John will sell the idea that Romo should pretty much pay for his opportunity to get to the Super Bowl - maybe as a starter. Elway is identified with the symbol of winning the SB and retiring. I think you have to convince yourself - this would also help Lynch's development to be around a wise old QB - and maybe ease his way onto the field - injury replacement - next season.

Mannings injury was huge and figured it might cause him to lose some throwing but, he could still play ball. His injuries weren't season ending. Romo injuries always seem to be season ending on even routine hits. He makes CJ look like Cal Ripkin jr.

Elway bringing a guy in would not shock anyone until we have QBOTF.

I agree - I'm absolutely positive Elway is going to dump his 1st and 3rd round pick from last year. :dhd:
