Agreed on QB part but, no way would I trade up that far and hurt our future on one player that isn't ready.

That is why I have said I cooled off on him that is crazy the amount it would take to get him ..

If Wentz falls past san fran at 7 i would bet elway would be itching to go get him. Dude was made for kubiak's offense

My guess that is about the only way and I don't see how that happens

Connor Cook is my guy. The more I watch the more I am hoping the Broncos go get him. He didn't have his best year this past year and I know the rumors about his leadership abilities are out there but man the guy can throw the football. He is the one guy beyond the top-2 that could step in day 1 and start and do well.

Also the more I actually listen to those who played with him the more I think the media have greatly exaggerated his lack of leadership. I don't think he is the nicest guy in the world but neither was Elway. My mom actually has talked to Elway a few times and she told me his cocky attitude almost made her not want to be a Bronco fan. Thankfully she married a Bronco fan and has 3 kids that are huge Bronco fans so she didn't have much choice. Sometimes though that attitude does pay off in believing in yourself maybe beyond what you should.

People keep saying Cutler .. I don't know to be honest never watched him .. but if true not a bad Idea .. I don't judge a player being compaired to another .. I doubt he is a wanker like Cutler more so his play ..

Yeah Cutler and Cook don't compare on the field.

I am liking Paxton Lynch a lot less everytime I watch him though. Not real interested. If he was there at #31 maybe... But I have no desire to move up for him.

So Elway is like most famous rich athletes. When it comes down to it most athletes would care less about anyone else. Straight up facts and that's why there aren't role models or should be.

I'm gonna throw the name Kessler out there. For no reason other than I spent the entirety of the college football season in Bakersfield, CA thus saw Kessler in the paper quite a bit. Never read the articles as I don't follow USC, but a quick search of Cody Kessler showed he got the record for highest comp % in school history, so at least he's accurate.

Although, USC QBs don't have a great track record lately (cough buttfumble cough).

Loved Kessler his JR year, not so much his SR year. I see him as a career backup. Scouts are really down on him as well. He just didn't progress like you had hoped from his JR to SR season with the things he had to work on. He doesn't have outstanding tools to work with either. Easy to say now and you ususually don't say it, but a player who should have declared as a JR had he had to do it all over again.

This is one of the things that bothered me about Osweiler. He has this 3/4 release habit he fell into at times. Was surprised at the number of balls he had batted considering his height.

That definitely was one of his biggest issues at least technique wise was he did not have an over the top motion like most of the top QB's in the league. It is why so many of his passes ended up getting batted. It reminds me of a WR that uses his body most of the time to make catches. He can be 6'5" and still not catch some of the passes that a 6'0" receiver can because he doesn't take advantage of one of his greatest assets. Osweiler while I think he will be a decent QB to me has a lower ceiling than some. I don't see him ever being above maybe 10th in the league QB Rating wise and see him more as an 12-18 range kind of guy. Which hey that is fine but that also means you have to surround him with quite a bit of talent to really see the team succeed consistently

That and he's not good enough yet to get away with it like Bernie Kosar did. Even then old Bernie had a lot of batted balls too.

Yeah I think Elway showed that while they liked Osweiler they just were not seeing what they all hoped for when they drafted him. I mean they have been watching every throw of the last 4 years and he has always seemed like a guy that while you liked for the most part what you were seeing you were not completely wowed either. I would have loved to have seen him getting a full off season as the starter and see what he can do but I was always thinking this guy is just not what I was hoping for when we got to see him this year. I do wish him well in Houston but when we didn't sign him and I saw what he signed for I just remember sitting at my desk going "Whew glad we did not try to sign him a that price."

When he threw correctly, the ball had a downward trajectory that I figured would be an advantage (i.e. Less likely to be intercepted). But when I saw him further I thought "he seems to be trying to compensate for his height instead of using it to his advantage." And while I saw flashes of a QB going through multiple reads, I was disappointed to see him do only a single read so often. I expected a bit more refinement from a 4th year QB. Houston's problem now. I won't mind seeing a fee Osweiler sandwiches with Miller and Ware providing the bread.
Hopefully we can get consistent QB production this season though. I REALLY want this team to return to the days where we could pop off a 7-8 min scoring drive when needed. 5 min left and the lead? No problem! I hope we can get there. We would be a tough team to beat in that case.

Yeah I keep envisioning our days of a team knowing we were just going to run it the entire 4th Quarter but still not being able to stop it. Can you imagine our defense this last year with even an average offense on the field eating up the clock and not doing ridiculous turnovers that put them in a bad spot? I do like how the OL is forming and expect a bit more from the running game this year. QB play not sure it can get much worse than last year but with it being such an unknown just have to wait and see. We have seen in the past though Kubiak take even an average QB and turn them into a decent starter. I mean guys like Schaub and Plummer before Kubiak showed up were not Pro Bowl QB's. All of a sudden they start finishing top-10 in QB Rating so maybe this is just what the doctor ordered. This past year Manning was definitely not the guy for the system as it completely looked like a square peg round hole type situation. Throw in then the OL just looking all out of sorts with injuries and a brand new system. So maybe we start seeing this offense finally look like the old days and man I don't think any fan base in the NFL appreciates a great run game like we do.

agreed. he was just so inaccurate and just isn't a leader. also i never saw ANY nfl throws made or progressions. If we are going to take a project, just give me Dak round 3

seems to be a trend for these USC QBs
