It's a good deal for all. NE has no shot at the SB this year it's rebuild mode for a year or two. Get what picks you can does no good on the sideline.
This sounds fair

defense isn't as bad as you think. Tom is clearly in decline, but Jameis in 2019 had the same amount of turnovers that Brady had over the last 4 years.
yupThis was one of the very few times New England's hands were tied. Gronk had all the leverage. NE couldn't afford for him to come back and the only team he'd agree to a trade was Tampa.
I read NE didn't even have the cap space to acquire Howard. The only contract they could re-work to open up space is Gilmore.
At least NE got something.
he became active. it was a 10 mil cap hit instantly. as soon as he came out of retirement, the pats were on the hook for his 10 mil. he was no longer retired. the act of unretiring reactivated his contract. The pats are in a difficult position with the salary cap this year. However, I don’t think any of their cap woes are attributable to Gronk. Prior to this trade I don’t believe he appeared anywhere on their “cap hit” numbers.
Now, it’s true that when he unretired his salary would have hit the cap but by trading him I don’t think they “saved” any money on cap. In other words, they are in exactly the same cap position they were last week. They didn’t “free up” 10M from THAT problem.
you can eat your own pussy?
If Gronkowski had pushed his way back onto the active roster, the Patriots would have been in an immediate financial bind. They have just $2.1 million in cap space, and he has $10 million due in the final year of his deal. Guard Joe Thuney's $14.7 million franchise tag became fully guaranteed when he signed it in March, so the Pats couldn't have created room by letting the offensive lineman leave. The pats are in a difficult position with the salary cap this year. Back to Sex 101 for you. Hint: rhymes with funnilingus.
A deep playoff run against the NFC West and NFC North? Seattle has had Brady's number I might add. Wilson is 2-1.
I could see Seattle or San Francisco winning in Tampa Bay in January. IF the Bucs even win the division.
OJ Howard to the current version of Gronk and at least one less pick feels like an active downgrade.
Absolute upside, but also no idea what they'll get and if he can stay on the field.
Naw, it's the other way around: everyone is expecting the Pats to fail and the Bucs to go deep. See the current odds in Vegas: the Bucs are +1100 to win the Super Bowl, way better odds to win the Super Bowl than the Pats at +2500.
49ers are heading towards a Super Bowl hangover.
Wilson is better than Brady at this point but Brady is the best QB in the NFC South.
idk about that now....3 or 4 yrs ago...no question.
I'm thinking more in regards to legacy. I think most sensible people would say that BB was the more important part to the Patriots 20 year dynasty than Brady. But if Brady goes onto win a title or get close to doing so without BB while the Patriots stumble and maybe miss the playoffs, that could flip the historical narrative.
