Just read a great article explaining that Gronk had the pats by the balls. He has 9.2M left on his contract. If he comes out of retirement the pats immediately must make salary cap space for that. They are tight already so they either had to trade him or cut him

You could tell Gronk didn't want to play for BB anymore and Brady didn't either. Gronk retired and came back to play with Brady. I think the whole Butler thing in SB and other decent people getting traded didn't sit well with these guys.
