I'm in the group that believes it is system/coaching problems. Also, I'd put most of our end of year offensive problems on the o-line. if they open holes against MSU/Wiscy/Minn like they did against Miami, we would have been in those games or even won.

We have a real QB coach now. I'm sure every QB will start with a clean slate and the guy that knows how to read through progressions will win the job. TA often times stared down 1 receiver, but without being in practice, I don't know if that was him or the system. I often blamed the system just because of what I had heard about it being a lot of read and react from the WRs and so TA never knew where they would be.

The highlighted is what I didn't like about TA--he telegraphed who he was throwing to. A good QB that knows passing will throw to a spot and it's up to the receiver to get there and make the catch. For the most part TA had only two types of passes--desperation and hail marys.

but why would you be running plays in the first practice?

As a new coaching staff, I'd spend the first 2 or 3 practices just focusing on skills and evaluating. Run all the QBs through the same drills, give the same time, then see if you can see if anyone has the skills you are looking for. Now obviously during skill drills it might be easier to game the system as they aren't under pressure, but that's when you move on to real situations and at least by then you maybe have narrowed it down to 3 guys.

I think all the QBs should get a fair shot at starting but I believe in the end it will be Stanton as well.

Not sure. Maybe Riley is looking forward to working with a QB that has TA (maybe JS) ability, pass and run?? Maybe he did not have that talent level at O State? Starting QB last year Mannion?????? Can't find any reports on kid out if high school.

Maybe Riley is not accustomed to having 3-4 star talent in skilled positions (O & D) at his disposal.

My bottom line is LD has his work cut out for him, turns out he's just the guy cut out for it. Previously our QBs had to come out of pocket in their spare time to get any form of legitimate coaching, now they can get it on the job, even in an actual game realtime, what a fucking ridiculous concept.
The downside is our current crop of QBs are on short time in terms of completely wasting an RS where they should have been receiving the direction they're about to, after the season is over of course like normal, but this time from their coach

I am so damn excited about this upcoming season. We have a bonafide quarteback coach and we have 3 yes 3 coaches who have been defensive coordinators before. PLus we have a special teams coach too so we don't have to go 3 years before someone realizes our return game sucks wind.

I am getting drunk too but I am excited. Big names in lights are nice but I really think we got a crew. A real roll up your sleeves and get this job done crew.
