They taught you wrong.

Lead with your shoulder, head to one side and wrap up the legs with both arms. Very easy and very effective.

Did you say wrap up the legs! Sir I'm throwing a flag on you!! Auto 1st down!

I gotta disagree with Tom here, defenders can't hit high, now they can't hit low ? How else do you tackle a guy like Gronk ? If you don't take out his legs he's gonna run right over you ... The NFL absolutely better not listen to this, otherwise let's just start playing flag football ... Tom is reaching here...

So you are advocating for the repeal of the chop block rule, et al.?

I just watched (for the first time) the play that Gronk was injured during.

I can't think of any "rule" that would prevent an injury like this, other than the flag football suggestions.
...I've watched many Pats games where the defender was ''intentionally'' trying to blow-out Gronk's legs....they're too much of a pussey to tackle him or wrap his legs = so they do the missle-launch/kill-shot.

"defenseless" is the key word you are all missing

Yeah, I'm sure this only happens to Gronk....

I remember knowing how to tackle properly when I was playing football. We called it wrapping up and it didn't matter how much bigger some jamoke was, when we got his legs or ankles "wrapped" up he went down. We didn't have to dive at a guys knees to get him on the ground.

Of course there was no ESPN back then and not many guys were using their helmet like a lethal weapon of trying to knock everyone out with the shoulder pads and helmet. Fundamentals are shit nowadays.
I had a coach teach me to lead with my helmet, not top like spearing, but "forehead" and visualize imprinting the riddell on the helmet above my eyes on the ball carrier. Could explain a lot about why I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning...

Interesting that Brady wants another rule. Didn't he recently say that there are already too many rules to remember?

embarrassing loss and a terrible loss of Gronk... Of course he would come out and say something. He can speak his mind about looking into this.. I would think if you actually sat down with him and asked him, "now do you only want this rule for Gronk?" he'd laugh in your face and say for everyone.

When you can really only get Gronk on the ground by going low you are just asking for things like this to happen, what Brady said and an injury to Gronk.

Again, I don't think that was an illegal hit in the game, it looked possibly like one at game speed but injuries are happening at a much higher clip now that something is going on here.

I didn't watch the video or read any of the posts in this thread, but just based on the title I'm guessing he's trying to petition Goodell to allow all NFL players to wear dresses during any game if they choose to do so.

Its not enough they invented a rule on the fly for him about a decade ago, that won him a SB, and made Raider Fans kill kittens

Ya, but that was when they were winning. Two losses in a row means something is out of whack and must be changed immediately.

The tuck rule was a controversial rule in American football used by the National Football League from 1999 until 2013. It stated:

NFL Rule 3, Section 22, Article 2, Note 2. When [an offensive] player is holding the ball to pass it forward, any intentional forward movement of his arm starts a forward pass, even if the player loses possession of the ball as he is attempting to tuck it back toward his body. Also, if the player has tucked the ball into his body and then loses possession, it is a fumble.[1]
