I don't expect that #6 at alllllll, and I don't think JR does either. I'd start with your second rounder and go from there. Seen a bunch of Flame fans wanting to throw in Wideman, but that's a non-starter on this team with the cap.

Naw, Wideman is going to Edmonton :D

/How about we toss in Mason Raymond, he's fast (and the Penguins like speed)

FWIW, the Isles still need a goalie and I'm guessing will wind up with whichever of Bishop and Fleury don't go to Calgary. My guess is the Bolts are far more willing to trade with NYI since they don't share a division, which may drive up the price on Bishop and leave the Flames with Fleury regardless.

I couldn't emotionally handle the Isles getting MAF...and they'd have to pay rivals pricing. One thing though, aren't they kinda low on draft picks? Or am I misremembering?

Regarding Bishop, I like big Ben, but I also like #88 on the Bolts and he might come cheaper than the Bishop.

For this draft, yes. They have their first rounder and not much else.

But they have their full slate for next year's.

...really? I think he'd cost more. Cheaper, just as talented (debatable I guess), more control contract wise, and younger.

Yeah, probably pretty close, but you definitely know what you have with Bishop, a lot more uncertain with Andrei, all signs point to him looking like a pretty good goalie though.

Saw that, a few things: 1) Canada is big

Getting away from rumo(u)rs for a second, I have been in the US for 16 years now and I STILL get people saying stuff to me like "You are from Canada, do you know blank blank from Vancouver?"

:rolleyes2:

Now, back to the fun . . .

The only thing better than one speedy former Leaf winger is, . . . , two of them :thumb:

Now, obviously people don't live in big stretches of the country, but Canada is GIANT.

Won't come cheaper. TB has a lot of contracts to re-up next summer. Assuming Bishop wouldn't regress terribly this fall, he would likely be seeking $7 mil+ in an extension. TB just can't afford that so he's the guy they can trade.

At this point there's just so little chance IMO that they keep Bishop unless Yzerman is totally fine with letting him walk. Assuming Stamkos goes, I doubt he lets two massive assets go for nothing in consecutive summers.

The thing is, the cap. Great, keep the third, draft a superstar. Fine and dandy.

In 3 weeks when Edmonton offer sheets Seth Jones and Jarmo can't match, what the fuck was the point of it all when you could've traded down, unburdened your cap load and kept the star D-man you traded your star C-man to get? That's why the "insiders" information is probably legit. Lord knows it's not like Columbus kept an airtight ship when they were shopping RyJo and unlike then this possible play actually has some logic to it.

Why can't Jarmo match? It's more likely we get into a situation where he won't and just takes the picks if the offer is stupid big. The Jackets currently have 8.5 to the cap and only Jones and Karlsson to sign. And that's before any buyouts, you have to expect two of Hartnell, Tyutin or Clarkson get bought out if they can't move any of them for an asset. They won't buy out Johnson, but wouldn't hesitate to trade him if they could. That gives the Jackets double digits to the cap. I imagine anything up to 7m per, and Jarmo matches it without thinking. Erik Karlsson gets 6.5. Jones isn't worth more than that.

If Edmonton offers 8-10m for Jones, then fine. We'll take the picks, which will still be pretty high. Yeah, it would suck losing the guy we lost Johansen to get, but Werenski in the wings takes the sting off a bit. And a number of first rounders for the next few years will be nice too.

Pix wants more rumo(u)rs - Here we go (lol):

Reports out of Canada have a deal in the works for the #Lightning to trade Ben Bishop to the Calgary Flames.

Because Calgary = Canada :D

Bishop would be awesome for Calgary.

Keep in mind: Bishop does not need to be protected for '17 expansion draft since his deal expires. #tblightning don't have to trade him.

Does BT amp up a little pressure from the Flames side and trade for Reimer's rights?

That's an assumption on the salary cap - there was a report a couple weeks ago that it may actually drop to $69.3 mil before the inflator which means the final cap would be $72.7 mil. That would leave CBJ with $4.6 mil in space. A $7 million offer sheet to Seth Jones would be matchable still assuming they buy out one of their brutal deals, but it really restricts the moves an already bad team can make to improve. Adding Pul and Werenski and Bjorkstrand into the mix will help but they'd still be stuck with anchors that pretty much negate the benefits.

I don't know. There's pros and cons from each direction. Guess you just gotta choose a path and hope for the best.

I think the pressure on Jarmo is a bit lessened because the kids in the AHL had such a good run. There are at least 5 players down there who could step in right away and contribute, which means he's not so pressured to improve right away through trades or signings, which he can't anyway because of, well his trades and signings.

But the point is, Jarmo doesn't have to look outside for anything beyond a center. Jenner and Wennberg could fill the role as well (especially with Puljujarvi and Bjorkstrand or Atkinson and Saad on the wings). Not ideal, but it's not having Dubinsky as your 1C either. The downside is youth and adjustment (with a terrible coach). The upside is they can gel over time and won't come calling for contracts until the pain is gone. I guarantee two bad ones are off the books by camp. Worst case is the other two are next summer.

He's painted into a corner, but it's nowhere near as bad as some are making it seem. I think they are trying to push him because he bit on the Johansen trade so fast when he didn't really have to. He's prone to pressure mistakes and everyone who is calling on that pick is trying see if they can goad him into another mistake.

I hope the path he chooses is to see what develops with the assets they have and don't go chasing fast fixes.

It's possible that Jarmo is also looking to move UP. Maybe he thinks this year's draft has a top 2 rather than a top 3. If the Jets feel it is really a top 3 maybe something could be worked out. I wonder what it would take for the Jets to flip picks with the Jackets? Something good and a salary dump (who can still play)? 3rd OA, 2nd rounder and David Savard for the 2nd OA? :noidea:

I just have a feeling that C-Bus doesn't like Puljujarvi as much as others do. Should be a fun draft to watch.
