Buckle up!!
I believe Bernier has one year left on his current contract.
Good point. I thought he was signed for longer. They can probably just ride it out for one year.
I believe Bernier has one year left on his current contract.
I don't know why the sweetener had to be a second rounder but given how many picks the Leafs have the next two drafts I'm not crying about it. I'm okay with it.I think Andersen is a really good goalie but I feel like the market for goalies is so weak. I guess this is an over-payment by TO but they address a real need with this trade.
That's a big commitment. Combined with Bernier that is a lot of dough being spent on goalies. Gotta think the Leaves look to move Bernier.
Gotta think they're going to move a salary out at some point though to keep some wiggle room. My guess would be Komarov is being discussed.
I would prefer to hold onto him but unless they're getting rid of JVR in a trade for a d-man there's gotta be a give somewhere for everything to work next season.I'd take Komarov on the Flames, he's just the itching powder in your jock that the Flames need.
They want an early taste of what it feels like to be passed over in favour of Toronto before Stamkos does likewise?Joe McDonald

Peter Donatelli, who represents Jimmy Vesey, had this to say about the Buffalo Sabres acquiring the rights of his client from the Nashville Predators: "In our opinion, the only thing that has happened is now the Sabres have stepped into the shoes of Nashville for exclusive rights [to negotiate] until Aug. 15. However, at this time, it doesn't change Jimmy Vesey's intention to become a free agent on Aug. 15."
Man, why would Buffalo give up a 3rd round unconditional pick if this wasn't pretty much a done deal?
For a guy that hasn't played more than 54 games in a season, and 125 NHL games, that's a lotta dough.
Yeah, those moves are actually pretty similar. Although I'm thinking Anderson has more games played before the move, yeah? I tend to wonder if the Leafs keep Bernier. Then again, with the goalie market a bit inflated right now, not an easy sell. That's what people said when they traded for and threw money at Bernier, and... oh shit nevermind
I sure hope they're right. It's going to be a tough contract to move if they're not.
they do have four (now three) 3rd rounders, but yeah, that's close to throwing one away.Man, why would Buffalo give up a 3rd round unconditional pick if this wasn't pretty much a done deal?

But Bernier had never started more than 25 games in a season before Toronto. Anderson started 54 and 43 the past two years and put up .914 and .919 sv%'s. He's shown that he's at least capable of handling the starters role, even if he's had some hiccups that are worth being concerned about.
This isn't my ideal trade but the Bolts weren't going to trade Bishop to the Leafs and Fleury is just as iffy as Andy so here we are.
EDIT: You pretty much duplicated my post right above. Sorry haha
I don't think anybody in Leafland is okay with the term. But I'll hold the faith until I can't no more. The trade I'm OK with, it's the 5 year deal that followed it that concerns me somewhat. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong.
Could always be next year's pick.Exhibit A why Eric Francis is a dingleberry...
Penguins want first-round pick as Calgary Flames bid to acquire proven starting goaltender
Hey, I don't blame Rutherford for asking, but there's no chance in hell the Flames are moving the 6th overall pick for Fleury. I don't even know if I would move it for Matt Murray. Now, we do have a 2nd round pick (35th overall) that we could move for MAF.
