Yes, but now they gotta dump some salary (Hartnell, Tyutin, and wait for it...wait for it...BOLL!)

If no deal is in place today to trade Boll or Tyutin, both will be on waivers by CoB today for buyout tomorrow.

That will give them enough to afford Jones. They will hold onto Hartnell and still try to move him and/or Johnson. And keep paying doctors to not clear Clarkson.

At $4.7 million he can live above a bodega in T.O.

/But he can always live at home with his folks in Markham so I'm calling it advantage Leafs.
For $5.2M in Buffalo he can live...well, pretty much anywhere he wants to.

In fact, after 5 years he'd have enough to buy an entire 40 story office building. Granted, it's mostly empty and needs a bit of updating, but still.

After the Jones deal, just gonna throw out there that the B's would be certifiably fucking insane to offer sheet Trouba.

That Jones deal...is wonderful. Wondering how they managed it really.

I think it's pretty fair value given what he's accomplished. His upside makes it a potential steal but as of now has he really done more than, say Morgan Rielly? Or even Cody Ceci for that matter?
I consider it a steal because I think he could've been offer sheeted for $6 or 7 million. Although I guess Rielly could've as well.

Really makes me wonder why they didn't just wait it out. I don't get the NHL at all when it comes to that.

Jarmo only has one pen and wants to get everything done before he loses it.

In about 4 years it could be the best contract in the league. In Nashville he was behind Josi and Weber and here he was on a really shit team. When he finds his stride (playing alongside Werenski) and the team improves around him, he's gonna look great.

And I am shocked at the dollars. Stoked, but really surprised he took it.

That Jones deal...is wonderful. Wondering how they managed it really.

Theory: His agent asked around on what offer sheets could be coming and only Edmonton replied.

"Fuck it. Whatever. I don't even want to think about going there"
