Jarmo only has one pen and wants to get everything done before he loses it.

In about 4 years it could be the best contract in the league. In Nashville he was behind Josi and Weber and here he was on a really shit team. When he finds his stride (playing alongside Werenski) and the team improves around him, he's gonna look great.

And I am shocked at the dollars. Stoked, but really surprised he took it.

Theory: His agent asked around on what offer sheets could be coming and only Edmonton replied.

"Fuck it. Whatever. I don't even want to think about going there"

I may be a bit more shocked at the six years at that term, but then again job security is nice.

Also, are any of these tax situations (TSN even has it's own Stamkos tax hit simulator now...) taking into account the currency change? Stamkos wouldn't pay Canadian taxes in US currency. His $$$ still goes farther here.

cesspool was saying Stamkos met with Leafs/ Torontos mayor and most interestingly the CEO of Canadian Tire

/
NHL probably allowing this cause they said Stamkos will be paid in Canadian Tire money

I must have missed something, who's cesspool?

yah ... still kinda curious ... just all seems kinda contrary to the cba to use outside money as a selling point ... but ... its been vetted i guess lol
Well, the Leafs aren't the ones promising him outside money - if that is indeed the case, let's remember for a second that this is Steve Simmons info - the corporation is. Maybe CT is breaking some sort of rule re: player sponsorships, but the Leafs aren't.

Sucks for Tyutin, but someone had to go and make room for Werenski, and Tyutin made 200K more that Johnson. Thanks for everything Fedor.
Tyutin had an NMC. Johnson didn't. One less "have to protect" in the expansion draft. Likely the bigger factor than $200k.

Also, how can it be cap circumvention when the Leafs are most certainly following the window rules and not talking dollars and cents prior to July 1?

It also only spends 2 years of UFA. He'll be perfectly timed for his huge contract at that time (if he earns it of course).

wheres the line though? If Stamkos signs with the leafs for 8 million a year x 7 and we hear other teams after the fact say they offered him max money ... and then in September Canadian Tore changes their logo to Stamkos face ... can people start to ask some questions???

I was wondering where Edmonton's second rounder was since it's saying they can't use it in an offer sheet.

They had to give it to Boston for Chiarelli :bounce:

I don't know why you're so happy about the 31st overall pick coming into our division!! :mad2::mad::rant::yell:
