Sidebar. People ask me all the time "would I ever move back to Canada"?

Although I make a small fraction of what Stamkos will make, that is exactly why I would never do it.

Oh, and the GST.
It's called "HST" here now - 13% combined GST and PST on everything.

Oh, and we still have a third world transit system and our healthcare and education systems are chronically underfunded. And everything still costs way more than it ever should, from utilities to food to clothing to alcohol.

At least you won't go bankrupt with the healthcare system in Canada. You might die before receiving the care you need, though.

/Okay, the above might be a slight exaggeration.

Sadly, I know enough instances where the above isn't such an exaggeration.

The quality of care has slipped, as well.

These are Ontario experiences, could be different elsewhere in the country.

Health care and education is really underfunded in BC as well. Coming from Alberta, I would say both are in better shape in AB than they are in BC.

No to Andrew Ladd, besides we need that money to re-sign Gaudreau and Monahan. Any free agents will have to be from the bargain bin.
They have enough cap space now to do pretty much whatever they want. Assuming BB&T aren't hammered when they negotiate with Gaudreau and Monahan the way Burke was when he gave Mikhail fucking Grabovski $5.5 mil/yr, the two of them should be signed to reasonable enough deals that combined with all of Calgary's bad defenceman deals coming off the books after the season re-signing Bennett and Elliott next summer won't be difficult.

They're actually in a pretty enviable spot right now.

Aaron Portzline @Aportzline
#CBJ are buying out the contract of D Fedor Tyutin

Aaron Portzline @Aportzline
Tyutin had two years remaining at $4.5 million per season.

Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
#CBJ announce they are buying out the contract of D Fedor Tyutin. He will save them $3.2M on cap next yr, but cap hit extends 3 more seasons

Obviously Tyutin was getting way too much money, but I'm really surprised CBJ couldn't find someone to take him off their hands without the buyout.

And you won't have to try a number of bad treatments before some pencil pusher decides to let you actually have the treatment that the doctor wanted all along...

I wonder if the Oilers swoop in now, they need some help on defense.

I wonder if Chia realized it. Allegedly, the Jackets had a deal with the Oil to swap picks and give Edmonton Tyutin (not sure what else if anything came back to CBJ), but the Oil backed out, leaving Jarmo to pick Dubois high (knowing he never would have slipped past Vancouver).

Actually a good call by Edmonton if that's what happened. They got Jesse anyway, and now can get Tyutin for way cheaper if they want him.

And I am not sure Jarmo shopped him anywhere else. Sucks for Tyutin, but someone had to go and make room for Werenski, and Tyutin made 200K more that Johnson. Thanks for everything Fedor.

That said, C'MON BOLLOUT

Who can offer sheet at each level.

2RC7VMG.jpg

Bruins would be insane to offer sheet Trouba.

Why is there chatter of offer sheeting Trouba but none for offer sheeting Lindholm?

I was wondering where Edmonton's second rounder was since it's saying they can't use it in an offer sheet.

They had to give it to Boston for Chiarelli :bounce:
