Reports were that he was after $4.5 per so, bargain?

I imagine they sacrificed term for this, but the contract comps are Simmonds and Oshie. But circumstances dictate these often, and other factors (no NMC/NTC), but seems like a lot of money for a guy that's going to be depth likely. Career high 39 points. So often these guys move teams from a contender and they're expected to increase production because of an increased role, but it doesn't pan out, because maybe their best role was complimentary.

You're talking to a guy whose team traded for Dave Bolland, so...

A lot of Pens fans want him back, and are throwing about numbers in $3M range. Honestly, much more than $2M and like 3 years and I'm not happy. I think it's something that happens post-Cup win...suddenly every player is vital and infallible. He was helpful, but he was sheltered and I don't trust him above 5/6 man with PP duties. At almost 26, I'm not sure how much more developing he's going to do, and I just don't like the idea of a bottom pair guy who plays 10-15 minutes a night making $3M. Still think he's a valuable asset to a team, adds depth and contributes when used right, but pretty sure I'd rather Derek Pouliot get playing time.

Totally agree and truthfully for the same reasons you stated I am not surprised that they didn't qualify him. Also I think the offer would have to be for 3.9 million. That is WAY too much for him.

Yeah, there was no way they qualified him...my worry is they offer something like $3M. To me, his value is like $2M max.

The Leafs' front office has become so fucking airtight that I can't even find a definitive qualifying offer list.

All we know is that they for sure qualified Corrado, Holland, Marincin and Sparks. The rest? :noidea:

Sounds like the Oilers are interested in both Jason Demers and Milan Lucic...

I know the deals were signed in different circumstances and all but just on my team Andrew Shaw is making more per year than Kyle Turris and Mark Stone.

The chump fleeced the Habs. I guess that's the way things go seeing as the Hawks also fleeced the Habs.

Shaw didn't get a NMC or NTC though, so I envision him ending up in Vancouver at some point (they need a replacement for Bellows)

:D

I'm spending my afternoon picking a guy on every roster with a similar contract to Shaw and comparing them. JACOB SILFVERBERG, ANAHEIM DUCKS, COME ON DOWN!

I'm gonna stop now...but Belesky for the Bruins. Sabres don't really have any comparable forward contracts. Backlund on the Flames. Basically all the comps I've looked at aren't as ugly as some of those peripheral stats.

I like Mikael Backlund, sure he doesn't put up the points like people thought he might, but he's a darn fine two way player.

His HERO chart was actually pretty darn nice. He won in Shaw vs. the World.
