And no, I don't know much of anything about Sieloff.

Has battled injury issues, but a heavy hitter on the blueline. Not sure if he will ever be more than a 3rd pairing dman, but he was in tough to crack the Flames defense corps. He's probably grateful for a new start.

Considering that the Stars' two first round picks prior to the Spezza trade were Nichushkin and Honka (albeit just days before), it would've been a lot better for the Sens had one of them been involved but...well, what can ya do now.

Well. I'm not as convinced about Nich as I was at this time last year. I think he actually has some bust potential, but a 1st would have been nice.

Good to know dash. Hopefully he can put the injuries behind him and put Mark Borowiecki in the press box.

I was hoping the Leafs could get him somehow as a reclamation project but after picking up Rychel I think that's unlikely.

Someone would be smart to do so. I think there's a good NHLer in there somewhere still.

He's got the tools to be an excellent player but I'm not convinced he's all there mentally.

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Alex Chiasson signs a $800,000, one-year deal with #flames. Below his QO of $1.2M.

Good work by BB&T

He's showed promise in stretches. Hopefully he can find his game under competent coaching. And by competent I mean any sentient being that isn't the crap of Cameron. :D

I think Gulutzan had him in Dallas, so maybe GG had input to Treliving about getting Chiasson from the Sens and knows best how to utilize his skill set.

He did.

If he's gonna turn it around anywhere...team with one of the best top 4 in the league is a nice place to kinda fly under the radar.

Nichushkin was my choice before we traded for Schneider so I'd be more than willing to gamble on him.

Is Colborne a surprise or was it a given with Monahan and Gaudreau's situations?

I'm hearing that BT is negotiating with Colborne and they expect to get a deal done in short order. I think this was done to avoid arbitration.

The way he played in the playoffs he might be worth a 1 year show me what you got contract.

A lot of Pens fans want him back, and are throwing about numbers in $3M range. Honestly, much more than $2M and like 3 years and I'm not happy. I think it's something that happens post-Cup win...suddenly every player is vital and infallible. He was helpful, but he was sheltered and I don't trust him above 5/6 man with PP duties. At almost 26, I'm not sure how much more developing he's going to do, and I just don't like the idea of a bottom pair guy who plays 10-15 minutes a night making $3M. Still think he's a valuable asset to a team, adds depth and contributes when used right, but pretty sure I'd rather Derek Pouliot get playing time.

Speaking of teams overvaluing players from Cup winning teams: Shaw signs 6 year, $3.9 per deal.
