I can't believe some of the games these FCS teams played today. Perhaps the SEC has to worry in November

It's uncommon enough that I usually don't even think much about it in terms of my rankings that do not consider FCS games at all. Usually I just penalize the team heavily with maximum point loss and move on.

After this week, I'm debating on if I should treat FCS teams differently than I have in the past. As now my stuff is still going to treat K-State and Oregon St as being better than they are, not to mention teams that barely got by. The lower FBS teams losing is not a big deal, but these better teams losing in bulk sucks.

Upper-tier (top 5) FCS teams are often on about the same level as lower tier FBS teams, and some are good enough to beat Top 25 FBS teams (as we recently saw).

Miami won't have to worry about Savannah State though. They lost 77-6 to Georgia Southern

Has the pussification of football helped lead to this? I mean you can't hit people anymore so the advantages of big time athletes has been more marginalized vs what we had back in the day no? The worry about concussions has made teams practice less and do less hitting in practice and teams are going into the seasons looking more raw because of it. Can't be a coincidence that the increase in these upsets follows those trends in the changes to the game.

If A&M loses to Sam Houston next week the Bearkat fans and students will hold that over our heads until we play again.

you would think big time athletes would excel in the new system. speed, size, and strength should rule even more imo

Well, the bad news for FCS teams is that they're less likely to get invited to play FBS teams, and some of them get nice paychecks for doing so.

I heard Manziel stuffed that dog, autographed it and sold it.

Used to be the bigger and stronger guys on the AQ squads would just lay the lumber on these teams and the physical punishment took them out of the game before they had any chance to get going. Sure, they should still be faster and perform better, but clearly some of those FCS teams are getting enough talent to compete and the lack of allowing the bigger and more physical players to punish them is hurting the dominance they once had.
