Should FBS major conference teams only play FCS teams in the spring?

Do not worry you get your wish this fall. Wait that will be a Goliath(FSU) vs a Jr Goliath(ND).

Man up. Put on the big boy pants. Play real teams, please.

Hate them. Jimbo Fisher is nuts. They are stupid games only meant to fatten the coaches wallets.

Once college budgets became out of control, or an arms race, the schools needed cupcakes to schedule that home game.

I remember the OOC schedule being all Division I schools.

1970 Nebraska played Wake Forest, USC, Army, and Minnesota.

1983 Nebraska played Penn State, Wyoming, Minnesota, UCLA, and Syracuse. Bowl game Miami.

1986 Florida State, Illinois, Oregon, South Carolina, bowl game LSU.

2001 TCU, Troy State, Notre Dame, and Rice. Bowl game and were trounced.

2008 Western Michigan, San Jose State, New Mexico State, Virginia Tech. The Pedersen/ Callahan duo brought this crap upon Nebraska. Bowl game Clemson.

Then Osborne came back and still kept up the crap to make budget.

2012 Southern Miss(bowl team in 2011), UCLA(bowl team in 2011), Arkansas State(bowl team in 2011), and Idaho State. Two of them turned out to be atrocious, UCLA whipped Nebraska, and Arkansas State did have a winning season.

He's trying to position himself for an SEC job

I would say maybe Oregon, but no way would he want to play a powerhouse team like the South Dakota Coyotes.

But by this time next year, you'll probably be wishing he was coming to Oregon.

I never worry about ND playing tough teams, then again none of our coaches have come out and claimed FCS schools were good for college football. :L

You know, its not a bad idea. Its a win win for FCS if they are paid to visit the hosting school.

I know a lot of high school teams have spring games vs other high schools usually of a separate class.

My old high school, Sweet Water (1A) played their spring game vs Paul Bryant (5A or 6A). So it's not out of the question.

There are kids they will never see the field except for the spring game so I lean towards no so they get their one game a year where they can play on the home turf in front of the fans.

I think this is a fantastic idea. FCS schools still get paid and let's face it, these schools are nothing but scrimmages anyway. This will force FBS schools to schedule nothing but FBS schools in OOC. Tough shit for schools like TTECH and Aggy who rely on FCS creampuffs in OOC.

No. I realize many have a problem with football addiction withdrawals this time of year, but get out and enjoy the spring and summer weather. College fb was meant to be played Sept-bowl season.

My take is different. Spring games probably won't work for a variety of reasons, but the concept is valid. Everyone knows that these games have always been scrimmages. Why kid ourselves?

Instead, simply limit guarantee games to ONE per year per team. That way, a school can have a warm up or mid season break game against an inferior school, but force the rest to be real football games. Right now, some schools have not only an FCS game, but two or three more against really bad FBS teams, all at home.

No, if some SEC, B1G, or PAC school wants to play that last place Sun Belt or MAC team, let them do it as a home and home. It would be the biggest thing to happen all year in those small venues, Lord, they might even have a fair chance to pull off the upset!

Oh, God, can't have that, can we? Someone might confuse college football for a real sport.
