NCAA claims 13 for Bama....

FBS Football | NCAA.com

And 7 for Oklahoma if I'm reading this correctly....

Have Notre Dame down for 13, we claim 11.

I looked at that then I looked at 2 other NCAA sources which gave different results...I think the link you show is those that are most recognized. In fact, CFDW used to only list the 7 NC OU claimed but now lists 23 for the Sooners. :noidea:

Classic example of why Auburn has been a joke. Most other schools would not claim some "under consideration". Schools only claim titles that the NCAA lists.

^^^This is why I voted against claiming them a lot BS you have endure and only more BS propaganda to try and make yourself feel better. I see no win in this move at all.

it is not so much the # of times the bama claims a natty that is the source of controversy......

but their decision to flip back & forth between claiming national championships awarded before & after a bowl game.

1964 claimed on a pre bowl game poll

1965 claimed on a post bowl game poll

1973 claimed on a pre bowl game poll

1978 claimed on a post bowl game poll

You are stupid, the reason for the pre and post bowl games is because that is when the final polls for the ones were done. Back then, they didn't do polls after bowl games, so how the fuck could anyone claim one for post bowl games?

Bowl games were considered exhibition games and didn't count.

The AP started doing post bowl in the early 60's, and the Coaches Poll in the early 70's.

Learn some history dumbass.

yeah and that is the point ==> alabama shows literally no consistency with how they award NCs. they just say "well it is the AP & coaches......that means they are 100%" and they just shut up right after that because none of them want to admit how bullshit it is that they decide a bowl win counts only when it benefits alabama.

Yeah, it's Alabama's fault that those polls changed when they did their final poll.

NCAA doesn't officially recognize any FBS football championships, hence Auburn being able to claim one any year they want.

I think the NCAA changed something (since it's arbitrary anyway) because they used to list more. The website page is new.

well technically yes. in 1965 the AP did a post bowl game poll because everyone was so ticked off at bama. then bama got the last laugh by winning it because the poll was awarded post game that year.

imo you can't argue that you are right simply by state AP/coaches. you should claim all the post bowl claims or all the pre bowl claims and just be consistent with that and all the controversy will go away.

alabama has 4 straight claims that were all awarded using an alternated post bowl/pre bowl philosophy

I guess if you can't win one legitimately on the field, you might as well claim a fake one because some other team claims a title that Chuck Jones at the Waffle House in Tuscaloosa, AL said they were the best team that year.

LOL

FBS Football | NCAA.com

Since Michigan St. likes to claim '57 I'll just laugh at you here.

This is a classic case of fans ignoring the plank in their eye while pointing out the potential splinter in someone else's eye.

Well, this changes everything...

24Seven is right, South Carolina now lays claim to 3 Unassociated Press National Titles, and also the following:

Best Dressed, 1927, 38, 64 and 85
Most Likely to Succeed 1912-1917 and 1919-1923 (no award in 1918 due to WWI)
The People's Champion
Best Dancer 2004, 2006, and 2011
Most School Spirit 1894-2013
And for lip synch, a 29.

Funny tidbit, the NCAA doesn't recognize the BCS national champion.

The NCAA Record Book has 8 paged dedicates to the BCS. That's an awful lot of recognition for something they supposedly don't recognize.

Actually, Alabama was very consistent in their claiming titles. They claimed every they could at the time.
