Someone like Cleveland will take Manziel in the first.

This actually wouldn't surprise me based on the organization, but I don't think Turner would take him over other QBs like Fales or Carr. He usually favors taller QBs, and I don't know if Manziel has the quick decision-making that is needed to run Turner's "Air Coryell" variance.

What am I missing here? From my own eyeball test, he can: throw the ball accurately, throw over the middle, throw on the run,

stay poised in the pocket,

johnnyf.gif

hit receivers in stride over the top,

22BXnFF.gif

extend plays with his feet while keeping his eyes downfield,

johnnyspaz.gif

if a play breaks down, can pick up yards with great speed, and has the vision to not take a big hit.

I don't see how he falls further than the 2nd round if he continues at the pace he's on. And as we've seen with Russell Wilson and Drew Brees - you don't have to be 6'3"-6'5" to be a good NFL QB.

That's a Michael Vick type play right there.

He plays a lot like Vick, but he doesn't have near the arm strength and idk what Manziel's 40 time is, but I would bet Vick's is faster by at least a tenth of a second.

Mike claims he can still run a 4.4

When you think about it, Manziel would be a perfect fit for the eagles right now. And that's what it's gonna come down to. He needs to find an OC who's willing to play to his strengths and not try and force him into being something he's not.

We get it, you hate the kid.

If he doesn't get into actual trouble or completely crater this year he will get drafted. He will get drafted pretty early, in round 1 or 2 depending again on how he does this year.

Saying he won't get drafted at all is either wishful thinking or petty hatred.

:agree:

I think that as long as he stays healthy and out of trouble he will go in the first round.

I agree fordman.

He has already shown a little too much ME ME ME attitude, skated trouble on multiple occasions, and appears to be a primadonna on a stick. Kid can ball, but can he cope?

Teams, with a lick of sense (YEAH JERRY JONES I'M TALKING TO YOU, YOU TOO KRAFT), vet players more vigorously now. The more potential non-football related issues, the further down the board you will slide. I believe he'll go after this year if he's retained his current value and the aggots continue their prominence.

That's not fair to Brandon Weeden :laugh3:

It'll work out. I'm sure Weeden will need a some time off for his grand kids birth pretty soon, could give Johnny Tweetface a chance to get some experience.

Case Keenum is with the Texans. Hopefully will get a real chance to play once Schaub is benched.

Didn't Kevin Kolb play for Houston as well? Not sure if under Sumlin... Looking now.

and for the record.

Mariota as a pro >>> Manziel as a pro.

I also believe if Mariota enters draft in 2014 he is the 2nd QB taken behind Bridgewater.

I dont think Mariota comes out til 2015 however.

But it is possible. Oregon is going to be gutted in next years draft. Lots of Jrs entering early it appears. They are projected to have 3 - 1st rounders and 2- 2nd rounders as of now.

Kolb left Houston in '06. Sumlin was hired in '08.

I don't think this kid even gets drafted. Maybe as a WR? but I think he is still too small. The only team I see drafting him is the Jets, so to get themselves into the headlines.

Manziel might be a great little college QB and if he stays alcohol free, could have a great long career at Texas AM, but I don't see him having much of a football future.

He will gain weight, but he shouldn't gain too much that's what gives him his quickness and elusiveness. If he gets to 6'2" 215 or 220 that should be fine. He is at 206 now, but will probably be bigger next year I assume.

But someone will draft him in probably the 1st or 2nd.

Johnny Football is bigger than Drew Brees....

To say a given QB won't make it based on size alone is just silly.

I kinda hope many of you are right and his draft stock falls just far enough for tSaint's to pick him up and let Brees groom him for a year or two to take over the reins.

Homer opinion....

Manziel made everybody completely forget about Mariota last season.

and Manziel would have been a Duck had Mariota not committed to Oregon. As soon as Kelly got Mariota he knew he wouldnt have the job over him. SO Johnny left.

I love both QBs. But Mariota will be a better pro in most peoples eyes.
