tOfficial 2018/2019 Braves offseason thread

I'll give him a chance. If even a couple of our pitchers can throw strikes on a regular basis, it's an upgrade over what we had.

Most of the buzz around baseball has been positive on this hire. I guess the Braves, and a couple other teams, asked to speak to Chris Young (now the Phillies PC). Young, reportedly, was more the analytics guy of the two.

Currently (of course..lol), I don't have a problem with it.

I like Joe because he was capable of triggering the opposing fanbase during any given game. Would prefer less Chip than less Joe.

Now, this I'm not crazy about. If Donaldson is anything close to what he was pre injury, he needs to be batting 4th, behind Freddie.

5. Camargo(ATM, I have him at RF)

I'm sure he could. There's been worse defensive third basemen that turned out to be pretty good outfielders(Ryan Anderson, Alex Gordon, etc). It would be a downgrade defensively from the Gold Glove defense we had in right last season.

I fully expect to make another move(probably sign Michael Brantley) to play RF, but as the roster stands now, I'd stick Johan over there. But at any rate, I do like Johan in the lineup even if that means Dansby is the odd man out.

If we don't get another outfielder and Johan is put in the OF, they might move Acuna to right(which shouldn't be an issue) and put Johan in left, which I would also be fine with.

The better option would be to put Ozzie in the OF and play Camargo at 2B.

Speaking of Ozzie,they wont do it but they should really consider having him ditch batting LH.

Dan Szymborski released his 2019 ZiPS projections for the Braves.

the only real weakness looks like LF. Rotation doesn't seem to have a frontline starter, but there's plenty of depth and upside. also got 4 position players projected for 4+ WAR (Acuna, Donaldson, Freeman, Albies). Acuna projected for 30 home runs and 25 steals... at age 21.
