Yeah... so it sounds to me like we are agreeing. They are both failures. But failing before even getting to the Finals would be a much more severe version of failure.
I thought we agreed a couple of weeks back that there aren't really "levels" of losing. If they don't win a title then they've failed, period.

I don't think there are levels of winning. You either win it all... or you are a loser.

But - to me - there are definitely different levels of losing. Everyone will look at the Cavs differently if they miss the playoffs this year vs. if they lose to the Spurs in Game 7 of the Finals. That's not making an excuse.. its just recognizing the fact that you can evaluate the season of a team beyond the inital binary win/lose criteria.

I disagree. I think there are levels of winning. An example of that would be each playoff series. Each time a team advances the idea is the competition gets tougher. And to take it a step further there are certain points of winning that are recognized by the league with rewards, such as a banner for the Conference winner and even a guaranteed seeding in the playoffs for the winner of a division (although I know that one is going away).

Now in terms of losing, there aren't any specific markers that would designate a loss at a specific point, time or place.

For the record, I like Wiggy...a whole big bunch.

But, when you do that much boasting on things that have not happened, you have to take your lumps.

I think the Cavs will go back to the Finals.

But, I don't think they will win if they face the Spurs.

They have a chance against anyone else.

But, with that ridiculous payroll, it's title or bust.

Yeah, I've been a little bit too hard on the guy, at least he attempts to back up his arguments unlike some other people who post 1 sentence consisting of "that's good" or "that's bad". *cough* Hambombs *cough*.

Perfect price to bring back JR.

The simple truth is JR CANNOT be one of your 3 best players. He cannot handle the pressure. He has proved that over and over again.

When JR is your 4th or 5th option- he can bring some real value- especially at 5 million a year.

I wanted to rejoin an incredible organization in pursuit of the ultimate goal, an NBA championship. Thank you to the Cavaliers for making this happen. Can’t wait to get started! #TheLand

JR Smith shot over 6 3's a game for the Cavs last season- which lands him in the top 10 in the NBA for 3 pointers shot per game. He shot 39%. If JR Smith can do EXACTLY what he did last year- being one of the best 3 point shooters in the league- while playing some pretty good defense- and having a few big playoff games- he adds some real value.

Now asking him to be the 2nd highest scorer? NOT GOOD! not good at all. Wow did he play bad in the Finals.

In reality, won't it be a 15-20M hit to Gilbert (depending on what Tristan gets **)
But, we get it, he has no choice but to pay it.***

** He'll get a max because James owns him.

***Because he's James bitch

Your facts are wrong. His average is 37% and that isn't good enough for the top 10 list. In fact he's not even close to top 10.

Those damn facts keep ruining Wiggy's crusade. If JR Smith is/was so valuable, why didn't anyone beat down his door to get him?

To be fair, he received as many offers from other teams that Tristan did.

Because J.R. isn’t concerned with being top anything. He just wants to get paid a few million to live off without having to put in the hard work to be the best he can.
He’s lazy & has no work ethic. If he worked hard he could be on a top 10 list. But, he’d rather kick it & make it rain in clubs than concentrate on improving his game. Simple.

Maybe he meant top 10 on the Cavs roster only?? :heh:

Simple google.
As far as qualified 3 pt FG% shooters, he ranked 39th.
To be qualified, you had to make 82 or more.

You must never have been to a club in Cleveland.
