Oh, was that supposed to be a jab at the Shapiro scandal? Wow, players taking gifts and money for play in college football, that only happens at Miami. Give me a fucking break. Didn't you fucks get busted over some tatoos not too long ago? You hypocritical shit. At least Miami gets in trouble for shit that's worth it. You fucks got busted over the dumbest shit. Let's talk about your pompous dumbass of an AD who could've taken a bowl ban the year before Meyer took over. Instead you thought you'd get away with it and wasted a perfect season.

Remember when that yahoo story broke?
People were expecting to find out that those players really crossed some negative line.
What really happened was that a convicted felon with short dick syndrome got his heart broke.

Who could ever imagine that some poor inner city underage kids would accept some cash, pussy, and trips on yachts??

And of all fan bases to bring it up?
Their guy, who they despised when he was the Gators guy, was putting winning ahead of all the very publicly known crime that was going on in Gainesville under his watch.

Most notably Aaron Hernandez.

He loves the distraction technique.

trust me, I noticed...

getting him to stick to a topic when his feet are put to the flames almost NEVER works. he'd get more respect if he admitted when he was wrong, or just even said he drank too much of the Kool-Aid. most would at least understand that...

Wiggy is definitely drinking the kool aid. That will make it sting much more when the cavs fall short again. He's already ready to blow each player on the team and the regular season hasn't even started yet. The whole regular season is going to get his hopes even higher, followed by a deep playoff run to get them even higher, only to lose again. If Lebron retires without bringing a ring to Cleveland, I think Wiggy Russ will go on suicide watch. I think he needs to pick up another hobby to catch him from the free fall of depression that is imminent when Lebron retires.

Another hobby?
He has.
It's called the Ok City Thunder ( if they are good).

No i totally agree with you on that- I watched that 30/30 on Shapiro and most of that stuff was pretty ridiculous--- all though it was pretty crazy- it reads like something you would see in movies. Ya know the most beloved Brown of the last 40 years was Kosar who had his moments at the U.

And yah- the tattoo thing was the dumbest thing in the world from all angles- I cant believe Jim Tressell was fired for lying about tattoo's. How idiotic on his part, on the part of the NCAA, players- everyone. just ridiculous.

Pryor is actually trying out for receiver on the Browns right now and has looked pretty good- the kid could always run that is for sure.

that Miami team was stacked with NFL talent. The Bucks that year just played great D, amazing special teams, and had just enough offense and a great coach. Still probably the most exciting sporting event I can ever remember watching- especially for it to turn out like it did. I actually was goaded into a bet by college buddies who despised OSU and took it straight up out of spite (despite the huge under dog status of the Bucks) and ended up getting a case of Milwaukee's Best Light out of it. HOOO-RAY.

and definitely was not a fan of Meyer at Florida after that National Championship game mess.....ughh....the fact that he got his start at Ohio State, and is from Ohio (and near the Cleveland area), and was coach at Bowling Green too- obviously endears him to the OSU fan base. The guy is a genius. Really- a TON of college coaches where either born or got their start in Ohio.

Looks like Thompson wants 5 years, $94 million and isn't budging.

Tristan Thompson will leave Cavaliers next summer if he signs qualifying offer, agent says

Cavs are fucked if they sign him for that, because he's not worth it.

Cavs are fucked if they don't sign him for that, because they can't replace him.

What's his attitude going to be like during the season if he has to play for the qualifying offer?
yah...you pretty much summed it up. He is definitely not worth 18M a year- I think his "market value" SHOULD be somewhere between 14 and 16 considering what other comparable big men are signing for- but the Cavs- besides pissing him off and making him play for the qualifying offer- really dont have much wiggle room on this one.

I keep wondering what hte final outcome will be- and keep coming back to the fact that 20+ teams will have a ton of cap room next summer- and the free agent class gets thin very quickly after Durant, Horford, Conley, Dwight Howard (and maybe Dwade and Kobe) at the top. Not only that but teams HAVE to meet a minimum cap floor.

I have a feeling that the next tier of guys- guys like Whiteside, Thompson, Noah, Joe Johnson, Nick Batum, Al Jefferson, Ryan Anderson, Danilo Gallinari, etc- are going to get a LOT LOT of money....

between getting Delly back at only 1.2M, signing Mo Williams to only a 2.1M deal, getting rid of Miller, they have given themselves a little breathing room- I really though they would have to give Delly 3M and Mo the full mini-mid-level of 3.1- and they got lucky Miller wanted out and Bron was good with it and got rid of his 2.7M deal. That savings should at least soften the eventual contract Thompson gets.

Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see what the Cavs do. On one hand, I don't think any team wants to be paying $14-16 million for a backup PF, let alone $18.8 million. On the other hand, players who aren't as good or at the same level as Thompson are going to be overpaid because of the cap bump.

The other problem for the Cavs is, what will his attitude be like if the Cavs don't give him his money? Even more important is, what will Lebron's attitude be like if Thompson isn't happy, is a problem in the locker room and/or leaves after the season?

Neither is a great decision for them to have to make. If I'm the Cavs, I just pay him what he wants because it's the only way to ensure everyone stays happy and the Cavs remain contenders. One guy who's important to the roster being unhappy can derail a teams title chances, especially if the guy who's unhappy is Lebron.

This post pretty much sums it up.
They might as well sign him, the only thing stopping them is the tax hit (regardless of Wiggy telling us that money is never a factor to Gilbert).
It's really is as simple as that.

Every logical/reasonable scenario says they won't have much if any additional significant cap space next year, regardless.

James pretty much made the decision to win or lose with this group. He better hurry if he can't add much.

Obviously none of us really know how the negotiating is going or what is being asked/offered, but I just don't really see Gilbert being dumb enough to cross that line of pissing off James because he HAS to know how it will end.

It's mid August...still plenty of time for it to be all worked out, which it will IMO.

What does that even mean, Wiggy?
I thought it was all about having the best, deepest roster and luxury tax means nothing.

Once Thompson gets in- which he will- the Cavs will have the most expensive roster in the history of the league. Are you ACTUALLY trying to question Dan Gilbert's commitment to spend whatever it takes to put a team that contend year in and year out for a championship when he has gone out and assembled a team that is the championship favorite and will be spending the most in the history of the league?

I mean- take a step back man- this is the crazy bullshit you are always trying to pull. The guy will be fielding the biggest tax bill in the history of the league. That is how committed he is to winning. If Arison showed that same commitment LeBron might still be there. Instead- from the Finals to the lotto- and from the lotto the Finals.
