Love the Price trade, props to Dave Dombrowski, I am still not sure if I want him back next year but this was a great trade that will help us in the future, Boyd has great numbers in the minors and Norris is supposedly a future ace.

Big deal is done real head scratcher for the bravos:suds:

Dodgers acquired RHP Mat Latos from the Marlins in the 13-player, three-team Hector Olivera trade.

Olivera is going to the Braves along with Paco Rodriguez and Zachary Bird. Latos isn't quite a Cole Hamels, Johnny Cueto, or David Price type of catch for the Dodgers, but he boasts a 2.96 ERA and 43/9 K/BB ratio over 45 2/3 innings since returning in mid-June from a knee injury. It might be a sneaky-good pickup for Los Angeles.

Dodgers acquired LHP Alex Wood from the Braves in the 13-player, three-team Hector Olivera trade.

There had been some thought that the Dodgers would try to flip Wood to the Tigers in a package for David Price, but Price is already on his way to Toronto. Wood will now simply join the starting rotation in Los Angeles behind Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Brett Anderson, and fellow newbie Mat Latos. The 24-year-old southpaw had a 3.54 ERA and 90/36 K/BB ratio through 119 1/3 innings this season with Atlanta. He was tremendous last season.

meanwhile in NY

Yankees acquired OF/INF Dustin Ackley from the Mariners for OF Ramon Flores and RHP Jose Ramirez.

The Mariners selected Ackley with the No. 2 overall pick in 2009, but things never quite came together for him in Seattle, as he produced a disappointing .243/.306/.366 batting line over 584 games. The Yankees will have to hope that the change of scenery will make a difference for him. He could be a possibility to get some looks at second base over Stephen Drew

Norris has been pretty underwhelming this year. He's still only 22, but he's struggled in AAA after a brief MLB stint.

4.27 ERA, 90.2 innings, 96 hits allowed, 71/48 K/BB

Prospects in the Tigers/Blue Jays David Price trade - Minor League Ball

Wood isn't nearly as effective as he was last year. His strikeout rate's dropped from 8.9 to just 6.8 in a one year span.

Hector is 31 and injured but they get him for 22 mil
What is Olivera, exactly? He's too old to be a "prospect" in the traditional sense of course. The Dodgers considered his bat to be major league ready with the ability to hit for both power and average, a projection that the early minor league numbers support. Questions revolve around his defense, his birthday, and a long record of medical problems which led some teams to believe that the Dodgers paid too much for him. Obviously the Braves are not one of those teams.

Wonder what's taking so long for the Hamels deal to become official.

I guess Gomez was fine, as the Astros, who are typically pretty strict on the injury concerns, have traded a lot of good value for him and Fiers.

Giants acquired RHP Mike Leake from the Reds in exchange for 1B Adam Duvall and RHP Keury Mella.

The Giants were unable to land the frontline starter they sought, but Leake isn't a bad backup plan. The right-hander boasts a 3.56 ERA on the season and has put up a 2.59 mark since the beginning of June. He'll bump Tim Hudson to the bullpen.:suds:

Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports that the eight-player trade between the Rangers and Phillies involving Cole Hamels is complete, but won't be announced until Friday

I'm not crazy about the idea of Jay Bruce to the Mets. I never trust the numbers coming out of hitters parks, he seems like more of the same of what is already here and it still presents a problem defensively. With Bruce, we still don't have a bat in center, we don't have a leadoff hitter and now it will bump Conforto or Granderson out of the lineup while Lagares remains.

Carlos Gomez was the guy to get, I really wish that deal had gone through. He would have filled several needs for this team

Ruben Amaro is holding a press conference right now. He still has assets to move and 2.5 hours to do it, but he's holding a press conf. right now.
