Recovering from TJ surgery but has the ceiling of a number 2, at the very least 3 in a rotation. Would probably take a cost controlled position player but he could be part of a package that nets us a big bat.

Latos is a long-time Giants foil. There is something cosmically "right" about him pitching for the dogs.

But Morse? That is just cruel. That is a personal slap to all Giants fans faces.

There are unofficial reports that Carlos Gomez is going to the Mets for Wheeler and Wilmer Flores. It's a decent amount to give up but I think it might be worth it. Flores would likely be overtaken in the next year or 2 by guys we have in the system and Wheeler, while a tough loss, is the guy that needs to go. We need to move one of our big guns if we want anything of value and Wheeler is that guy.

Feel bad for Wilmer, he's a good dude, did anything that was asked of him, he's getting traded in the middle of a game from a contender to a bad team. I hope he has success in Milwaukee, same with Wheeler.

The Pirates have acquired Joe Blanton from the Royals for cash.

Savvy, cheap move by the Bucs. Deepens their bullpen a bit at no cost, and Blanton profiles really well for PNC Park and the Pirates' pitching philosophy.

That's a lot to pay for a guy with a 95 wRC+ whose walk rate has fallen and strikeout rate has spiked.

Steep price to pay for the Jays, but they filled their biggest need. Outstanding asset management by the Tigers.
