What do you mean? Do you feel that fans that were ( and probably still are) unhappy with the way things were handled should not cheer for their team?

Not necessarily, but with all the vitriol about being "disgusted" and feeling "betrayed" and feeling like the entire organization and the NFL are lying cheats more interested in saving face than what's right, and all the grandstanding about not knowing if they'll even watch another game because they were so "fed up", I kind of expected it to take a little more than 1 tackle by the baby bleacher to win them back so fully.

Actually, no I didn't really expect it to take anything more than that. Because it was that one guy who was in the wrong. That's all. YAY ENABLERS!

Tim Tebow to join ?Good Morning America? | For The Win

lol

wow what a career he had. so long that he can easily do broadcasting

lol, when I was a kid that's not the career I would day dream about having. Nowadays it seems like the ideal sports career. Play, I mean "play" for a couple years - dont get hurt - move into

Yay exaggeration to the extreme!

Well its obvious you are morally and intellectually superior to all Baltimore fans. Time and time again you post as much.

Of course I have every expectation that if the stadium was half empty or if your Facebook mockery targets didn't post enough then you'd be saying how the fans abandoned the team.

Assuming Tebow is a halfway decent speaker he could make a killing just going around doing motivational speeches, going to corporate outings etc.

I saw this stuff and vomited. Turn in your ovaries ladies.

Look, I'm actually fairly old school when it comes to a man-woman relationship. In a relationship, I view the man as the leader/head of the household. THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN HIT A WOMAN EVER EVER EVER EVER. I make very small concessions based on self-defense, or cases where the man is sincerely out sized/strengthed, but that video showed callus calculated rage.

Something Very Weird Happened During ESPN's Interview With Bill Polian

...ummmmmm, yeah, that's not frightening at all.

Ravens Players Dedicated Win To Ray RiceBaltimore Sports Report

And I'm officially taking a break from the NFL. I didn't watch last night, didn't miss it. I may watch occasional games to tinker with a fantasy team I already committed to, but yeah. Not doing it any more. Stop treating the man like he deserves pity, NFL players. He got this punishment for an action he willingly took part in. The writer there makes good points: this was a big win in the midst of a mess, they could've officially separated themselves from the mess but decided to bring all the focus back to them.

Personally, I think this is more of a societal issue than an NFL issue - We had a similar story here in Calgary where a running back (Joffrey Reynolds) assaulted his girlfriend. Only real difference between this and Ray Rice is that Joffrey was no longer a member of the Stampeders (he had been released about six months earlier and I don't believe there was any video of the assault). However, it didn't change my rooting interests towards the Stamps. The vast percentage of guys on the team appear to be genuinely good guys and they do a lot in the community.

/The only thing I really took issue with was the fans giving Ray Rice a standing ovation when he returned to Ravens practice.

Well, that would be a first.

The league is counting on people to be pacified and stupid enough to allow them to get away with flat out lying about, enabling and attempting to cover up abhorrent behavio(u)r. Something they have systematically done for years.

They didn't act because they saw the tape. They acted because WE saw the tape. And for a span of about three glorious days it looked like the general public was not going to let them get away with it, but alas that appears over. I am mourning the loss of the idea of accountability.

Fans exist in every city that turn a blind eye to transgressions the second the ball is snapped...and I don't think anyone who cheered for their team last night is suddenly an enabler. In Pittsburgh there were more than a handful of idiots (and still are) that will fight to the death that the girl was either lying or wanted whatever she got in the bathroom. Marvin Harrison is revered among Colts Nation. Lawrence Taylor is a HoFer and Giant legend. JIM BROWN is a many times over woman beater and intimidator. Ray Lewis has a statue. America loves giving their athletes second, third, fourth, tenth chances...and I'm not sure that'll ever change.

Yep that double standard exists, heck look back at 2008 with the Steelers.
James Harrison was arrested for assaulting his Girlfriend and basically got his hand slapped, Cedrick Wilson assaults his ex-girlfriend and gets released the next day.
But even with these cases Harrison still is able to come back and retire as a Steeler.
Then Wilson goes on to coach football at two different High Schools. As he was working at the one school he was indicted on Federal Fraud charges. Just the fact that they allowed him to work at a high school with assault charges is amazing.

I know. And the owners count on this short attention span to continue to be multi-millionaires and is a large reason why they expected to (and absolutely will) get away with this cover-up. It just seemed that for once, the outrage was going to be enough to affect change. And the fans aren't enablers directly. They just fund the enablers. Can't wear my Ray Rice jersey anymore? I will go buy a different one until that guy gets caught doing something disgusting.

If it was a one-time or one or two very isolated incidents, I can understand. But it's institutional. Like dash example of Joffrey. I can see why that might not completely turn you off on its own. But looking at the track record of this one team in particular, all teams in general and the league as a whole, I just can't understand how people don't seem to be the slightest bit squeamish supporting it.

And for the record, I personally feel Marvin Harrison is just as big a piece of shit as Big Ben, LT, Ray Lewis, etc. Considering him and Ray Ray are such good friends, it's not all that much of a surprise.

I'm reading up on the Greg Hardy stuff now, and I sure hope that the big media catches this and runs with it too. Having that (and the fact that he's playing after being found guilty, although awaiting trial by jury) on top of this Rice mess may be enough to push it over the edge. If there was zero video of Rice (as in there had been no outside the elevator video) he'd be playing and have zero suspension. So it's time for the NFL to make a stand, one way or another. If they let Hardy go then they've made a stand: we need hard video evidence to make a decision. If they do something about it, then maybe it becomes a trend. Maybe. You're right in that the pressure is on the public to do something about it. We can't simply get burnt out on a story like we usually do. Can't simply slink away or move on to the next disgusting story.

They need hard video evidence *to leak to the public* to make a *meaningful* decision..

I liked him informing the woman that Rice wasn't playing last night. Why don't you explain the rules of the game to her too.

Normally I'd be bugged by it...but under these circumstances? I'm fine with him treating them with idiot gloves.

yup cfl teams and their players really are out front on the domestic violence issue ... it really became an "organized league issue" after Josh Boden
