Jose Canseco is Roger Goodell's slump buster (or is it road beef?)

i love how the meda is all in an uproar and saying that the nfl is in trouble if they don't fire goodell blah blah blah. majority of people couldn't care less if goodell saw the video or not. they are still going to watch/attend the football games.

i think the media should be more in an uproar over the fact that ray rice basically got off with a slap on the wrist in the legal system

Some of those juicy sponsor dollars could be in jeopardy if the league doesn't do some serious damage control.

Yeah, some sponsors might drop out, but I feel there would be others willing to take their place if a spot opened up.

I dont think any corporate sponsor is jumping at the chance to get on board with the NFL right now ... maybe give it a month for this "story" to die down

maybe this one? :noidea:

So an "Independent" investigation has been commissioned by and paid for by the accused, and is to be overseen by two members of the Boy's Club of NFL owners?

Gosh, I wonder what it will say?

And the man heading up the case works for a law firm for which the owner of the Ravens once worked.

EDIT: I really don't know why the Rooney's are getting into this. They were a big part of Goodell getting his job, of course (headed up the search committee, which is really a farce because Goodell was being groomed for this job his whole adult life), but...come on. Stay away. I just hope this doesn't magically blow over, which is precisely what Goodell's intentions are with the investigation.

There was a situation in the CFL several years ago when an Edmonton Eskimos player was suspended for one game and the player appealed the suspension and it went to an "independent" arbitrator. This arbitrator (an Alberta judge) overturned the suspension. Of course, it later came out that the judge was an Eskimos season ticket holder.

Built in deflection capability. Whatever is in the report that the Ravens don't like, they can claim is biased and the Rooneys had a hand in trying to make them look bad because of the rivalry.

I believe this story is to big to blow over. The owner of the Panthers is taking heat now for allowing Greg Hardy to play. Jim Harbaugh was asked repeatedly about why McDonald was allowed to play as well. Ray Rice isn't the only NFL player with problems. Heck Hardy was convicted of 2 counts & he's still playing games. Due process my ass.

That shows why I think Goodell has to go, and why the chances are increasing by the day. Not because there's one documented owner upset, but because the owner of the freaking Panthers feels like he holds some responsibility for the way things were handled, even though it's incredibly likely that he had zero to do with this investigation and subsequent suspension. And if Goodell is making the Panthers owner feel guilt, there are probably some other owners who aren't happy that they're being dragged into this situation of which they have very little to do with.

Look at dis Rooney! Why would a Rooney, a Pittsburgh institution, want to get involved in a stupid purpley Ravens related investigation? That does not. make. sense. But more importantly, you have to ask yourself, what does a Rooney have to do with a Ravens investigation? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, he has nothing to do with this investigation. IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury...if Rooney is involved in a Ravens investigation, you must acquit.

Ahhh, I didn't realize that when I wrote that other post. Makes more sense. Still all reflects back on Goodell, and it's making the league and league owners look like bad guys. That won't jive with the owners.

I actually miss the days when all the NFL talk was about Tebow. :sigh:

Seriously. Life was simpler when the issue we were faced with was trying way to hard to discredit a geniunely nice, albeit woefully under-talented for the NFL, guy.
