Sorry, meant punish in general. He does have permission to suspend under 35A, but the fine amount is capped at $1 million.
If the arbitration is rigged, that is legal cause for the arbitration to be voided and for the case to go to actual court. In actual court, he will wipe the floor with the NBA. He did not come close to meeting any of the conditions they have listed for a team to be terminated.
But it probably won't come to that. The owners won't give silver the vote he wants. The reason he came out and said anything now is for the playoffs. He doesn't want to lose the viewership for the playoffs. When that is over, that is when this battle will actually start. Silver won't win. There is no case for the owners to contractually be allowed to vote on this.

If you have anything negative to say about black people, homosexuals, Jews or terrorists, you will be dealt with swiftly and mercilessly. This is 2014 America, people.
Arbitration can and does get thrown out when the court determines that the arbitration was not done correctly.
If he loses arbitration, he will successfully get it in front of a court, and he will tear the NBA a new asshole.
He was fined 2.5 million today - just sayin
She didn't have the right to do that! Stop pretending like she did. The private conversation was none of our damned business and you know it. It doesn't matter who we're talking about, that's the right we enjoy as citizens here!!! You're pretending like she did something admirable and courageous.
I hope Sterling sues the shit out of her and TMZ and wins.
And that will be thrown out too. The clause he is trying to fine him that under does not apply. Rules violations by owners already do have a punishment in place, and as such a rule applying when no punishment is in place DO NOT APPLY.
So you think that you know more than Silver, the commissioner of the NBA and a skilled lawyer?
Silver knows it too.
He is just salvaging the playoffs. He knows damn well nothing is going to stick.
For those of you that think the players only wanted his money and didn't really care, THIS is for you:
Warriors Had the Blueprint For a Dramatic Boycott Ready to Go ? Marcus Thompson II
That's just proving the point that the punishment is about appeasement until the playoffs are over.
Silver knows damn well it won't stick.
The NBA is a joke. They are railroading Sterling like the media did with Paula Dean. It was a private conversation and he should be able to say whatever he wants. The gold digger should be in jail for essentially ruining this old ass man's last days.
Such a damn joke.
