I'm sure some were, winning covers it up for sure, but does that make it any less valid? Seems like a strange thing to bring up. It's pretty obvious they aren't getting young guys who can play, either the wrong guys are getting picked, the guys who are getting picked aren't being developed, or most likely a combination of the two.

Even the best coaches have a losing season or two under their belt.

Landry even went winless once.

Tomlins a good coach.

In your opinion, there are plenty of outstanding questions you don't address though.

Pittsburgh will be dominating the AFC North again in 2 years
2 good drafts and they are back to where they are expected to be.

This is his 7th year!!!

Almost every piece from the Cowher era has been gone for a while now. He hasn't had any coattails to ride on for years and his team has consistently regressed since losing the SB.

Cowher inherited a Chuck Noll built team, and lost in the play offs for 6 years straight.

In his 7th year, they finished 7-9, followed by two more losing seasons, one so so and another losing season.

Cowher got an extended chance, won one SB, and now he's a lifelong hero supercoach.

Wouldn't it suck to cut Tomlin just to see him resurface somewhere else in a few years and take a team to 5 SB's in 10 years.

Several years of terrible drafts have caused this. It can take a long time to pull out of this kind of failure.
Its basically this. The Steelers are probably in need of a rebuild given how many hits Big Ben has taken. Imo.

Whether you fire Tomlin or not, the Steelers are going to struggle over the next few seasons. They are in a persistent state of salary cap hell. It's going to take some restraint(not extending older players to lower their current cap number), good drafting, & letting go of some older players, in order for the Stellers to "right" the ship. The practice of pushing salary cap numbers into the future has finally caught up with the Steelers. If they had been drafting well & developing talent well over that few years, the Steelers could continue with that strategy. But since they haven't, they are now at a tipping point that just firing Tomlin won't solve.

If you fire Tomlin, you have blow the whole thing up & rebuild from the ground up. It might take 2-3 more seasons to become a playoff relevant team again, but just firing Tomlin or continuing on this same path will just prolong this quagmire of being a barely relevant or bad team.

I just don't see the Stillers firing Tomlin right away, lets look at the history, very, very, VERY, stable leadership is the hallmark of this team, I think there may be another FO move or moves made, but honestly I think Tomlin is a good coach, and given time could be much better, the Stillers stay the course, rebuild and deal with the cap and move on.

I think the Steelers are a few players away from still being one of the best teams in football. Their biggest problem this year, besides losing Pouncey for the season, is that Todd McShay was right that Jarvis Jones is not what he was cracked up to be. I've even heard people using the B word with him.

But one can't expect some of those older vets on defense to keep playing like it's 2008.

I've never been sold on Tomlin being a genius, but I think their current situation is clearly on the front office. That franchise was once a model for excellent player acquisition and retention decisions. Not so much these days.

The last game makes me question that 1st comment now, but I really agree with it...the DEF is really playing with half a deck based on past Steeler DEFs. The personnel is suspect in some areas, and scheme is not well matched on DEF.

Pouncey...maybe not his equal, but actually Valesco has been a pleasant surprise.

Jarvis Jones...I think he'll be fine...the problem imo again is more missing on his game as a pro. He might've played in a 3-4 in college, but @ UGA his NT & DEs were NFL caliber players...he wasn't taking on 300 Ts , then the next play covering a TE, like he has in this DEF....imo better suited as a 4-3 OLB where you're blitzing against a TE or a RB.

Fan in control for the next 1 yr.

I would throw a big going away party for Lebeau and switch to a 4-3
Clark, Keisel...they would be bid farewell also
Draft a LT, find a way to draft Ebron, TE from NC

I don't see us moving from 3-4 to a 4-3. That's going to take time to do and in the mean time it may mean some losses. Right now more losing is NOT what the fans or the FO want.

Tomlin is pissed, not because people are getting out played but because there are some that he thinks are lazy. Bad play you can fix with time and technique. Lazy you can't.

If we keep playing this way we're bound to get just about anyone we want in the draft.

They probably won't...but Saints flipped to a 3-4 this past off season and they are doing okay so
I don't buy that losing has to be part of it...whether they do or not isn't the issue...it just looks personnel wise the best fit imo.

Tomlin...Lazy? that would have to come from inside to have any merit imo, but who gives a flip at this point...his record the last 2 seasons is bad.

Tomlin is such an arrogant fuck. Asked at his presser today "Are you concerned or question the direction the defense is going right now"?

"No because he's Dick Lebeau.....any other questions"

Well Tomlin you might want to rethink that since your D just gave up 55pts and 611 yards. What a total douchebag.

:L

Rhetorical questions alert... Can you really blame him? Why would he want to show any sort of distrust to the media? ESPECIALLY at this point in time when the roof looks like its about to cave in? It's a gaurantee that ANY problems within that franchise WILL be 'solved' IN HOUSE, like they always have been!

That being said, I would also like to say that I would have said the same thing. Lebeau isn't a HOF-er by accident. I would trust Lebeau of all people to be able to right that ship, even though he has had a few bad games. I'll agree that his system has clear problems, ones that may or may not have quick remedies. But I'm not going to point a finger at him when the problem is the result of multiple different areas. Tomlin is smart enough to know that.

On that note... Tomlin is far from an "arrogant fuck".

lol Both teams have issues. I think Pitt is easily the worst of the 2 right now but this bullshit of letting Cincy and Cleveland camp out on top of the division needs to stop asap!
