I think it makes perfect sense. First, the UofL job pays almost twice as much.

He would follow the same blueprint he enjoyed at WVU. Play in the weakest of the Power 5 conferences, beat 1-2 tough opponents per year, and earn a berth in the playoff.

Beat a bunch of baby seals, and earn glory. Why the hell not?

I can't see it happening...I think he's settled in the desert for a while...how ever there is a guy in Kentucky right down the street that is more than familiar with the the Louisville program..and would be incredible irony if they went after him.....

meh Im not sure I buy the story about Mangino "abusing" a player, hurt his feelings maybe but...
I think its a good hire for ISU, their offense will be better IMO.

It amazes me what is called abuse in our pussified America now. Could you imagine Bear or Woody coaching today? We have guys at work now who will say what an ass chewing they got because they were asked why they did something!!!! Chewing ass, making kids do extra workouts as punishment, grabbing their facemask to get their attention, showing technique in a physical way AINT abuse!!!!! It IS football they are playing, NOT synchronized swimming!!

Amen, Good move, and we will have our work cut out for us even more with the Clones. This conference just got tougher/better .. I would have been just fine with a bonehead hire by ISU

ACC guy?????? he spent two years as OC at Clemson in a 25 year coaching career. He is more of a B11 guy, CUSA guy, BE guy, WVIAC guy than ACC
