Thoughts on Vin Scully

Watching Jays at NYY with Capuano on the mound the other day made me think about how much more knowledgeable Vin was than the guys doing that telecast. When Capuano was pitching for the Dodgers, Scully would frequently remark how he tended to be much better the first and second time through the lineup than afterwards. Though the NYY broadcasters never mentioned it, sure enough, Capuano sailed thropugh the first four innings, only to get roughed up in the fifth.

My Favorite was Jerry Doggett a real stat guy. Every half inning before the first pitch Jerry would tell what happened so far in the game. Amazing. Tell what each hitter did last at bat.etc etc, stats, stats and more stats. Give stats all the time while calling the game too. Great voice too. Vin was the story teller which I didn't care about at all as a kid. But I enjoy more now. But Vin is still my second favorite of all time and amazes me how long he's lasted. Old as dirt and is still killing it. He makes more mistakes now but I don't care he's Vin Scully.

ABSOLUTELY NOT - VIN SCULLY IS THE GREATEST BROADCASTER EVER IN THE SPORTS HISTORY WITH THE SECOND BEST EVER GOING TO CHICK HEARNS.

If you don't like Scully - then you simply don't have an appreciation for how the game is called. I remember a lot of people didn't Howard Cassell years ago, but then he really won people over. You are just DEAD WRONG ON SCULLY - YOU MUST NOT BE A DODGER FAN

Chick Hern was his equivalent. You cannot tell me he was a good announcer in his last years. I'm not saying Vin wasn't great years ago, I'm just saying he need to retire because he is absolutely terrible now.

Gotta disagree and say you don't know what you're talking about - best announcer in the world even at his age. Put your crack pipe down and quit smoking - it's affecting your brain
