So let's reward the Indians by playing in a division where 3 teams finished with fewer than 65 wins lol.

No way that team shouldn't be playing the best team in AL this weekend.
Drawing the Astros is a reward?

They'll play the best team presumably at some point, in one of the 2 rounds.

This is a solution looking for a problem that doesn't exist.

There is a huge difference in playing a team in a best of 5 series instead of a best of 7 series.

Best two teams shouldn't play each other in the DS round.

Reseeding would make for a better product.

Still solving a non problem

What is the point of getting the top record then? With the way you're talking, maybe they can pick the matchups at random once we know who the playoffs teams are.

The point of getting top seeds in all professional sport is to 1) Have HFA for the playoffs & 2) have an "easier path" than the other teams in your conference

In 1993 the Giants won 103 games and didn't go to the playoffs at all. In the NFL 9-7 division winners get in and 10-6 teams miss the playoffs. That's sports.

You know, I'm starting to rethink this reseed thing. Maybe just for this year, I'd like it to be reseeded.

I would MUCH rather the Indians face the Red Sox than the Astros.

Hey hey...no need to stop acting like lady. We can recenter this point right quick
pffffawwwn ,,, I was winning the argument with the other guy. Didn't need to fight on two fronts. But to the point on Maddon, I think the issue is if you can only score 1 run in 13 innings, no amount of strategy is going to help.

My only link to the Indians routinely is the 2 series they had with the Reds. Early on, their bullpen was a pile of puke. All the same, it was clear they were going to win the AL-C against that dumpster fire. The second series against an inferior team, the Indians were clearly better in the bullpen. All along, they had a better lineup.

So if they didn't put their foot on the gas in July, they ended up having a much easier time of it. And the Red Sox had their post-season in the bag way earlier than that.

I agree that this is a solution looking for a reason to fix itself. Seems to me like somebody has this fantasy about grand and glorious reprise of some long-ago best-of-7 that hasn't been resolved.

Cleveland can easily win a short series with their pitching. Winning a crap division has nothing to do with it.

But again, if reseeding makes the playoffs better, I'd like to wait until this one is over before I trash it.

This just sounds like a certain fan realizing his 100 win team probably won’t even make it to the LCS.

Not to mention MLB would probably wait to do this until it’s not the Yankees or Red Sox involved. They don’t want to blatantly admit their bias. You need to wait until it’s a team like Cincinnati or Seattle that gets screwed.
