If they did that, the LDS would look like this.

1) Red Sox vs 4) Indians
2) Astros vs 3) Yankees

1) Brewers vs 4) Braves
2) Dodgers vs 3) Rockies

I'm surprised they don't. You know Fox was praying for a Yankees/Red Sox ALCS.

I suppose if you want to drive TV ad revenue and ratings, you could do that. I think a do-over between the Rockies and Cubs would be preferable to make sure the right team wins.

I mean usually they wouldn't have to because a lot of times, the WC team is not better than the 3 division records but in the rare times when you have 2 dominant teams in the same division, would be nice to reseed IMO

Since it's rare, why do we need to fix anything?

No way. Wild cards cannot get a benefit over division winners, even if they won more games. You must go play the 'best' team and not have HFA.

Because possibly having the top team in the league playing the team with the 2nd best record in baseball is beyond retarded.

The point of getting top seed in sports is to have an EASIER path than the teams who finished behind you.

You do know this right?

Why should a 2nd seeded team who finished several games behind the top seed get an easier path to the WS.

Do you realize how dumb you sound?

If Judge doesn't go down for nearly 2 months, you likely have 2 teams with 105+ wins facing each other in the ALDS while the team with 3rd best record get to face a team who finished with the 5th best record in the league....

I'm pretty sure no sport in a playoffs format want the top 2 teams in their sport facing off in the first round of the playoffs. It is just silly

Maybe we could have the Yankees move into the National League so as to make it more likely they meet the Red Sox in the W.S.

To answer your question, you assert that it's rare. If it's rare, why get your undies in a knot? There have been times when a team with 83 wins took the W.S. Shit happens.

Or we could just have a Yankees-Red Sox rule just this one time because ... well, it would be better for baseball.

If you assert that the Astros aren't as good as the Yankees ... based on what legitimate criteria? That they only played the Orioles 6 or 7 times?

I'm not asserting anything. Point is the best team in a league shouldn't have to face a tougher opponent (based on record) than the 2nd seed.

There is no reason why the Red Sox should not be playing the Indians.....Instead they get to face a better team who finished with 9 more wins than the Indians while playing in a better division

But divisions matter, especially in baseball where you play the teams in your division FAR more than any others.

If you don't see a problem with top team in the league playing a team who finished 9 GAMES ahead of the team that 2nd place team is facing then you're just not very smart.

So let's reward the Indians by playing in a division where 3 teams finished with fewer than 65 wins lol.

No way that team shouldn't be playing the best team in AL this weekend.

I think the top 5 teams should get in and the 2 worst records play the WC game. That’s been my view for many years. Just because someone won their division doesn’t make them more deserving than a team with a better record in a better division.

Why even bother with waiting til after WC? Just take the 6 best records from each league regardless of division and seed 1-6

3 games series , 5 for the DS and 7 for the CS

Get rid of the stupid off days between games and you really give an edge to the teams seeded 1 or 2.

1 Red Sox
2 Astros

3 Yankees vs 6 Ray's
4 Oakland vs 5 Indians

1 Brewers
2 Cubs
3 Dodgers vs 6 Cards
4 Rockies vs 5 Braves

Doing it this way gives you far better odds of the 2 best teams making the CS
