I agree mostly... Conference champion don't mean shit and damn sure don't mean you in and get a bye,,,

Where does the ignorance stop?? I mean, Army is 11-1 and conference champion... Why did they get shit on if the committee is so high on conference champions?
The rule is the 5 highest ranked champs get in and the top 4 get a bye. Army is not ranked in the top 5. I agree that it would be a joke if they did. Clemson getting in was bad enough.

The committee acts like all conferences wears the same size shoes.... When actually some wear a 9 and some wear a 14... and they want us to believe they are the same size... BS
I agree they are not the same, but there are many who think otherwise.

Georgia beat TCU in the BCS bowl two years ago, one of those circus teams that was touted as a superior team and tried to make us believe that... Until they had to actually play on the field and we know how that ended... 65-7.. It was a joke... and not to mention Georgia and Florida St last year...

If you want to sound serious, and not like a troll, you'll want to avoid referring to that Georgia v Florida State game as an example. Unless you are totally ignorant, you should be aware that most of FSU's roster in that game was 2nd and 3rd stringers -- for a bunch of good reasons. You also might recall that LSU didn't enjoy playing that full FSU roster, and got blown out by it.

Also worth noting that Florida State's backups didn't lose to Georgia all that much worse than #9 Ole Miss did in November ( 52-17 ) or #20 Kentucky in October ( 51-13 ).

So how come it never bothered you that the SEC had to play an "extra" from 1992 to 2010? It is total nonsense that a CCG can only help teams. If you play the game it should count just like every other game on the schedule. If you win you go up if you lose you SHOULD go down. You buy your ticket - you take your chances!
Yeah, I have to agree with this. the committee and others saying that "you shouldn't drop because you had to play in the CCG", is total bullshit. so, you can only benefit/rise. what a joke. sorry no way in hell should it work like that. you lose, you have to suffer the consequences of that.

and bye is BS...

I thought we trying to get the best 12 teams in a playoff situation... not getting mary's little lambs in the playoffs with a bye... Whoever came up with this rule got shit for brains... Have we not seen this trainwreck with TCU a few years back??? Now every year we have to fuck around with this shit...

Starting with SMU getting smoked today by Clemson and still getting a free ride into the top 12..... WTF

There's a half dozen teams (outside the top 12) thats that would knock that shitty team like a little bitch...
Awww, someone's team lost 3 games and didn't go to a conference championship game and wants to be at the big boy table with all the teams who didn't lose three games or won a conference title.

Fun Fact, if the conference champion of the SEC was a 3 loss team they would get in with a first round bye as well, but i bet you wouldn't complain about that now would you.

Why are you complaining, your team got in and didn't even have to play in the CCG. So your team got a free week off while the other 2 teams played in a game and tOSU still gets to play in the CFB.

Hard to say. The SEC was able to muster two teams with fewer than three losses, which is more than can be said for the ACC.

Alabama and Clemson didn't play each other, so if they were compared, the tie breaker would be head to head common opponents. Their common opponents were Georgia and South Carolina. Alabama beat both. Clemson lost to both. Yet Clemson is in and Alabama is out for one reason and one reason only - Clemson played a weaker schedule in a weaker conference, which allowed them to play in a conference championship.

Damn...For someone who's team never placed higher than 14th out of 16 teams in the SEC.....

You sure talk alot of shit...

You're not in the Big 12 anymore bud... You have more than 2 big games a year now... Might want to go to the portal and find yourself a defense..

I don’t see why it would bother me. I don’t understand what you are trying to say.

Which season are you referring to? SMU is 11-2 and Miami is 10-2 right now.

Conference champions should definitely make the playoffs, but I don’t think it should be required to win a conference title for a team to get a bye. They should just seed teams based on who’s the best, for example if two teams from the same conference go 12-0 and meet in the conference title, both should get top 4 seeds over say a 10-3 conference champion.

CFP has a bit of an electoral college feel to it.

I agree the notion there is no way it can hurt you is absurd. But losing a close game I don't think should drop a team behind a team who watched you that close game.

why can't he complain if he disagrees with this in general?

I was referring to SMU being 11-1 and Clemson being 9-3 going into the CCG. Despite Miami having a better overall record at 10-2, Clemson went to the CCG because 2 of their losses were OOC, so they never happened as far as the CCG was concerned. Which is part of the problem with giving playoff spots to teams whose sole qualification is a conference championship.

That's an awfully fine hair to split, considering that the difference between the ACC and the SEC in that specific instance is basically several terrible calls against Georgia Tech between the hedges. If Miami got that kind of help against the Yellow Jackets, the situation changes quite a bit, doesn't it?

I don't watch much if any college ball but I'm taking a shot in the dark saying Ol Miss just missed the playoffs, bringing their fans to tears.

lol. aching for an argument?

this has nothing to do with OSU. I'm just pointing out the flaws in how they lay out the seeding. I think most people see the ridiculousness of the #8 and 10 ranked teams being blindly gifted the #3 and 4 playoff bye spots. It doesn't make any sense.
