Before the Chiefs signed Reid, there was lots of fodder indicating Mathieu was going to re-up. When Reid was signed, Andy Reid and the Chiefs pretty much made it known they were moving on. Still there was word things could be worked-out. But when Mathieu wouldn't back down on his salary demand which DJ has already stated that it is too much, that pretty much sealed the out-the-door deal and now he's looking to sign somewhere else after the 2nd of May when everyone gets their 2023 comp picks assigned.

Mathieu has a lot of mileage on him and Reid is 2 years younger.....and cheaper.....

And not too much of a decline in talent.
