Michael McElhatton (Roose Bolton on Game of Thrones) has been cast as Tam al'Thor!

damn good casting IMO...very close to what I always pictured for Tam.

Daniel Henney has been cast as al'Lan "Lan" Mandragoran.

not too sure on this casing though. but that might be because Lan was easily my favorite character (well, him and Mat), so maybe I'm being a bit overly critical. In way the facial features are close to what I always imagined for Lan, but not really the build. I see him as a bit taller and thicker, heavier...a big guy but with the lighting fast reflexes of a smaller guy.

to me it's easily WH. fuck, that book bored the hell outta me. Perrin and Faile were the two most useless, boring main characters of the series.

I actually liked WH more than most of the books in the center portion of the series. Unlike most of them in that portion of the saga, two of the three main plots of WH are reasonably self-contained, and it ends with two very big developments -one a major character development in the Mat plotline, the other a momentous shakeup in the entire world.

The Perrin/Faile plot is the exception, and i agree that is extremely dull during WH

On the other hand, 60+% of CoT was nothing but characters reacting to what happened at the end of WH, with little independent plot of its own. The only thigs that make CoT worth anything are the mat/tuon relationship and the egwene cliffhanger moment at the very end.

Apparently, the showrunner loves the character of Logain, and is planning a significantly larger character arc for him in the show than he had in the books

It's been ages since I read some of the books, but, talk about a never ending series.

Will be interesting to see how they flesh out the female roles, I always thought Jordan made them a bit carbon copies of each other, especially with their gestures.

Doubt I will watch it though, I know a lot of people loved the series, I thought it started as a rip off on Tolkien, then meandered into such a ponderous quantity of characters and story lines that it became a chore to read it.

I was 17 when I caught up (between books 11 and 12), and my Dad had apparently already figured it out. In fact, he seemed rather confused as to the fact that it was a mystery and just knew who did it when he read it.

the murderer hadnt even been established as a character at the time of the murder. Namedropped a few times, but never played a part in the actual action, either as a PoV character, or just appearing in other characters' chapters, until the following book.

That seemed like lazy writing.

The one thing that i'm really hoping the tv series does better than the books is the character of Cadsuane.

You can't introduce a character we've never heard of before after half the series has come and gone and say she's this legendary aes sedai whose very name strikes both fear and respect into the hearts of every other aes sedai.

If that were the case, her name would have come up long before this, even if everyone had assumed that she were dead
