The Washington Post reports the Redskins are likely to let DE Chris Baker walk in free agency.

Per reporter Mike Jones, the Redskins are "lukewarm" on Baker, who is expected to seek "significantly more" than the team is willing to offer. Baker has 9.5 sacks over the past two seasons, and was the Redskins' best overall lineman in 2016. Baker turns 30 in October.

I kinda had a feeling that something like this might, (and I emphasize "MIGHT") happen dating back to that press conference where Baker offered a question regarding the organization ability to have enough money left to resign him. The look on SM's face spoke volumes.

feel bad for him, age is the ONLY reason he won't get paid here -- however he has a chance somewhere else.
i'll be very, very upset if we chase the DE from ARI to replace him

Bake provided some good leadership up front for a depleted DL but we need more production. He was actually a back up just a few short seasons ago and I believe he became a starter by default. (Lack of overall talent)

look we have been "luke warm " on all our Fa's so we will see. the redskins on more then one occasion have let players test the market and then get a deal with the player

if baker walks it hurts but it can be overcome

Yeah that's a good point. I hate to see it, he was the only legit DL on this team. But as we know big deals for 30 year olds is not SM's MO.
