If that's all it cost? I would do it in a second. I'd go higher, although not to the level of a whole draft mentioned elsewhere on this topic. I honestly believe AD would make NE the best offense in the NFL the rest of the year.

The price has to be much steeper than that for Minnesota to move him though, IMO.

I mentioned NO, but agreed NE is one of those that AP could help put over the top for a ring this year.

For MIN to want more than a 1st is understandable, but we're talking about a real small pool of teams that would even consider a 1st rd. pick.

His talents are being wasted on that crap team. They should trade him to some contender for their entire draft and then start over. The shelf life of an NFL RB is jus too short to not think like this. They should get all they can for him while he's still a valuable commodity. And give AP the chance to win something. He's not going to win crap in Minnesota.

The Lions wasted Barry Sanders entire career. The Dolphins wasted Marino. If Peterson is a Viking for the rest of his career he won't be the first Hall of Famer to never win a Super Bowl nor will he be the last.

Tomlinson, Steven Jackson, etc, etc.

Trading Peterson would benefit Peterson more than the Vikings, though. At 28, Peterson only has 2 legit 'superstar money' type years left before no one would even think about starting him. Peterson is probably only worth a 1st atm due to his age and injury history (which is a sad declaration of what RBs are worth)

If Trent Richardson is worth a 1st round pick, Peterson is worth more.

I think there are more contenders that would give up a first for the best RB in the NFL than you would think, even without a lot of years left.

If Trent Richardson is worth a 1st round pick, Peterson is worth more.

Richardson is 22, though. The comparison isn't great.

The problem with trading to a contender is the draft choice won't be much better then a second round pick from a also ran. What the Viking really need is a top 10 pick for AP and that's not happening. He's not going anywhere.

I agree. I would happily give up a first and second but that's just not enough IMO. The team is bad and he keeps them from early picks, but he's just too valuable to not get a great value back in return.

The only view you can take is that he may move them from 10-15 to top five and late first and extra late second. It's just not enough.

I hope one of the NFC linebackers hits this dickhead so hard they knock his balls out through his nose. This would solve his procreation problem at least.

I really hope you end up with terminal cancer for the comments you just made.

For fair compensation for a player of AP's caliber you would need to get back at least a 1st and a 3rd but Vikings aren't going to get that from anybody

I would give that pretty easily.

Vikes would only trade him if the payday was incredibly high, he's the face of the franchise for one, and with him and a middle of the pack QB, they're a playoff team.
This season is a head scratcher for sure, the same o-line that dominated and opened holes against 8 and 9 man fronts last season can barely get AP back to the line of scrimmage this season. Still looking for that middle of the pack Qb as well.

As crazy as this sounds, it might be a good idea.

He's reached 2000 yards already and is almost certain to never hit that again, RB's do have a short shelf life in the NFL, and the Vikings can use the picks.

No team would give enough for a RB his age. And the Vikes wouldn't just give him away.
Vikes had 3 first rounders in April and 2 the season before. It would be stupid to get that many young guys starting, it won't happen.

No one thought the Bengals would get two #1's for Carson Palmer either, but it happened.

All it takes is one team desperate enough.

Hell, look what Jimmy Johnson got for Herschel Walker.

And look what Walker did with the Vikes....that's why it won't happen.
But a trade like that might get him.

Harold you are exactly right.....AP would have to go to a dog team before he would be worth anything to the vikes.

Send him to a contender and they end up getting deep in the playoffs or even the SB,and AP draft position would not be worth what AP is.

BTW..............Minnesota fans would have a serious cow if they traded him off. js
