AP fills the seats, brings in money, and keeps the team 'relevant'. They get talked about in the news is the point.

I get trading for picks is good... but the best thing you can do is attract free agents that want to be part of something special, inspire rookies, and keep coaching staff around (for consistency purposes). Trading picks is great in Madden when you can make any team you want 16-0 in all madden sliders maxed, but NFL works differently. You have to attract talent, draft and coach up, and keep a fanbase while doing so.

Why trade AP? Grab a good QB in the draft and all of the sudden you are talking about winning the division and contending WITH AP again. Do people really think the roster for the Vikings is so bad that trading AP makes sense? If you have such a low confidence level in finding a good QB , and talent in general, then fire the GM along with Frazier who should be fired ASAP anyways.

Edit: If AP was on Jacksonville, I would 100% be on board with trading AP, but he isn't on the Jags...

Yes. With the second best RB in the league in place of AD last year, the Vikings easily would have dRafted fiRst overall.

The only teams i see as potential buy-ins for Peterson are:

1. NY Jets
2. Carolina Panthers
3. NE Patriots
4. Dallas cowboys

all other teams i do not think it is worth it...

And 2 of those teams that i think are best fits might not even make the playoffs...

The only one that may make the playoffs on that list is NE. The jets, panthers, and cowboys have no shot.

The Boys have no shot of making the playoffs? Who's going to win the East then? I'm bookmarking this one.

Go for it Dallas is a bad team and unless they sneak out at .500 or below on the strength of a very weak division, which is in the realm of possibility, they don't get in. Their division hasn't been playing good football, but the cowboys don't pull it off.

Are people giving crap to Dallas because their Dallas? I mean really... Their 3 losses are to a 7-0 KC team on the road, a 6-1 PeyPey Broncos at home, and to a 4-3 Chargers team that has Rivers playing lights out.

Chiefs, Broncos, and Chargers have a combined 24-4 record...

Maybe the AFC West is just really good?

Thank goodness I wasn't the only one who noticed. I almost had to break out the abacus! But to answer your question: yes, the AFCwest is pretty good. The chiefs maybe the best team in football with the broncos in the top 3-4.

"No shot" seems a bit strong. But I doubt any of the three make the tourney. But not as much as I doubt Peterson ever gets traded.

The cowboys have no shot? They're 4-3 right now with a game against my Lions they could very easily win. That puts them at 5-3 in a pretty weak NFC East. Even if they lose Sunday they're still at .500, again in a weak conference. Just bc they MAY not go far in the playoffs doesn't mean they won't make it.

You are incorrect.

Both the Jets and Carolina are 4-3 and both are the favorites at this point to get the 2nd wild card...

Not that they will get it, but they certainly have a shot, and with Peterson they will near definitely get that 2nd WC spot...

AP would probably get CAR into the WC, but they still don't have enough on OFC to go into SEA or SF and win. Same with the Jets going into DEN.

So my point is...do you give up a #1 pick just to scratch the surface of the playoffs?

AP is all that and some, but he's probably not that final piece on those teams...if I'm NO, I might consider it b/c he could be the SB piece.

Yeah I would say unless he is the final piece on an already very strong roster I would never think of making a trade and even then I would probably say no. With the way the NFL is done these days you have maybe a handful of highly paid players like quarterback, Left Tackle, and maybe one guy on defense. The rest you try to leave at manageable contracts and the way you do that is through the draft.

Look at Indy this year in they have one of the top 5 quarterbacks in the league only being paid $5 million. That left them plenty to spend on the rest of the roster to give them an overall pretty darn good group. Once Andrew Luck has to get paid look for the quality on the roster to drop.

I just don't think even though it is AP that I could bring myself as a franchise to give up so much for a position that seems to be replaced every 3-4 years on most teams these days. I would love to have AP on the Broncos but at the cost of other players that are more essential in my opinion it just really isn't worth it.

But trent richardson is the problem... Minnesota is going to want at least a first round pick for peterson... these passing teams are not going to get peterson to steal too many snaps...

Agreed...the game has changed so much that imo it's pretty much rendered a RB who is probably top 10 alltime already to be just a piece.

Kind of touching on your other point...imo the $100 mil QB, (or those very close) era, you must hit on your # 1 pick, and the draft in general because you won't be able to fill many holes in FA. The best player available theory is going to be challenged going forward.

And they should, I would...but is the market there now?...especially after Trich's slow start in IND.

If that's all it cost? I would do it in a second. I'd go higher, although not to the level of a whole draft mentioned elsewhere on this topic. I honestly believe AD would make NE the best offense in the NFL the rest of the year.

The price has to be much steeper than that for Minnesota to move him though, IMO.
