Current 2022 Draft Standings:

ARI 38-81 .319 (4-6)
BAL 38-78 .328 (0-10)
TEX 42-76 .356 (3-7)
PIT 42-76 .356 (1-9)

PIT plays tonight against LAD, and BAL faces TB, so those are likely to be losses for them.
Baltimore is in a perpetual tank mode. Hopefully next year our young guys can compete and not be an embarrassment

we're going to have to have someone at the top who isn't afraid to play them and that entails signing a couple of very good level 1 or 2 FA's, not wasting millions signing a bunch of level 4 and 5 FA's and clearing wasted 40-man spots thru DFA and trades. JD isn't that man. i expect that we'll see a repeat of this year's poor off-season plan

Sucks that our farm system is doing so well, since JD will just continue to run the organization into the ground.

still say he is the perfect yesman for an ownership that doesn't want to put a real competitive on the field. it wouldn't surprise me to see them trade away some of our best prospects for crap this offseason

46. Blaine Crim, 1B, Double-A Frisco
Round 19/2019 (53-45-UR-NA-NA)

When first base enters the conversation regarding an offense-first position player, it’s typically a concession that he may not be athletic or agile enough to play elsewhere on the field. In Crim’s case, there appears to be enough in the bat that the Rangers are wondering if they can move him off of first base. Standing under 6 feet tall, the 24-year-old doesn’t fit the ideal frame for the position, but there’s no mistaking his knack for producing at the plate. Crim hit .350/.404/.585 at Division II Mississippi College but with only moderate power. He then hit .348/.411/.543 in his pro debut with the Rangers, going deep eight times in 246 plate appearances at two short-season levels. Though he was skipping a level this year, Crim not only proved to be ready for High A — he found an entirely new gear. On Aug. 1, he hit his 20th homer of the season — in just 73 games — which gave him the High-A East lead as well as the high mark in the Rangers system. He was promoted to Double A the next day, where first-base duties have been claimed by a group including Sam Huff, Sherten Apostel and Diosbel Arias. Crim has made two starts at the position but also a pair in left field, a position he last played (for one game) in college. He’d also gotten a handful of Hickory starts at third base before the promotion. His offense hasn’t suffered from what is regularly considered the biggest jump for a prospect, as he hammered out a .333/.400/.704 start with three home runs in his first 30 plate appearances. It will be another year before Crim must be rostered to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft, and he’s moving closer to making that a serious discussion.

Newberg prospect rankings out. Crim at 46... head scratcher?

Do think this new regime has pulled the trigger releasing guys. Gone are vets traded, and guys released like Odor and Dahl. Even Herget let go. I am not expecting many free agent moves maybe one or 2.
We are even trying out a guy like Pozo

oh they have made some moves but the question has to be will they really get serious during the off-season or will we revert to last year's off-season again?

seems like you'll only be satisfied if the Rangers land the top two free agents available - regardless of cost or how they fit into the plans

The folks who rank prospects don't have much use for a guy like Crim. He doesn't pitch and he doesn't play up the middle. He isn't known for walking a lot. Then there is his height. They just don't have boxes for him to check off. He can hit all the way up to AAA and they will not be impressed.

must be a lot of very good prospects ahead of him
BA and Evan Grant's list of 30 and 20 had several guys on their lists that I would put Crim in front of.
