He's a pass for me. If the Lightning were going to do like Jeannot and a 3rd for a Flyers 5th or something just to clear space I'd be interested. Maybe they flip him like they did with Walker. But he makes 2.6M and probably has some GMs that'd give up assets for him. The only value I see in getting him is to flip him for more at the deadline. If you have to give up stuff to get him in the first place, you might not even break even at the deadline depending on how the season goes.

Seems like a lot of risk for most likely a low reward. And if there's anything the Flyers don't need at this point it's bottom 6 wingers.

If the Flyers think he can play C long term, I'm all for this. 25 yr old, already has a 70pt season under his belt. Guys like that don't become available all that often. Flyers need to take swings on guys like that if they stick to the 'not tanking' rebuild.

Another big heavy team like Florida in the cup again. In the mold of Bruins, Tampa ,Vegas and now Florida.

You know all of Canada will be watching as they haven't won a cup since 1993.

And the McDavid draw. But surely not the two teams the NHL would draw up if they were looking for ratings.

Rangers (#12) and Stars (#7) were relatively big teams too. Oilers actually heavier (#6) than the Panthers (#17). Panthers play an aggressive game though for sure. All 4 were top 11 in height also.

Not exactly sure what group of players this is using, but Flyers #32 . Didn't expect them to be dead last.

Range for franchise forwards is 8.9M-16.3M. Top liners 6.1M-8.8M.

I'm very concerned what TK will end up getting. I think it's almost a foregone conclusion they're going to re-sign him, but if he's 8 years and 8+ million, I think they/we are really going to regret that deal. Love the guy, but that's too much money to spend.

That's what happens when Hextall starting drafting tiny players years back.

Also when i say "big" i mean big and bad style of hockey not that puss fantasy hockey style of play.

Lol. Always comes back to Hextall for you. Bigger problem though is he drafted bad hockey players. Sanheim, Konecny, Fedotov, Frost, Farabee and Cates are the only Hextall picks on the team. Out of 42 draft picks, 14 of which were in the first 2 rounds, only 6 guys still with the team and only 9 guys reached 200gp.

Bunch of the < 200gp guys weren't small fries. Trying not to cherry pick the late round guys, but Laberge 6-1 190. Dove-McFalls 6-2 211. Allison 6-2 205. Twarynski 6-2 200. Bunnaman 6-1 207. Strome 6-4 210. Ratcliffe 6-6 200. St Ivany 6-3 200.

The '16, '17, and '18 drafts were particularly fruitless. Five 1st round picks and 4 second round picks and the only guys that move the needle in those 3 drafts were Hart and Farabee.

He set us back 5-8 years with his crappy drafts and trades and free agents. Pitt realized how bad he was a lot quicker than we did. Torts and Brierre already sped up the process of the rebuild. Hopefully it doesnt take as long as we thought.

Drafting well is the key. Bruins across that same time span, with a similar set of picks, picked Pastrnak, Donato, Heinen, Bjork, DeBrusk, Carlo, Lauzon, McAvoy, Frederic, Lindgren, and Swayman. All over 200gp and award-caliber guys at F, D, and G.

I agree that drafting well is one way to go and probably the best way to go with a salary cap retractions but not the only way to go. See NYR top regular season team in the league and 2 wins shy of playing for the cup.

Now suddenly Konecny wants the bigger bucks. WTH?

I just hope he gives us the home town discount when it comes down to it.

So, the Flyers will come back with $7 million and they'll end up at $8.5 million, which splits the difference. I love Konecny and yes, he fits the team well, but he's not yet done what $10 million players have done. He's already had 8 seasons in the Nhl too. I say no chance in hell the Flyers give him that much money. If they do, certainly it won't be for longer than 5-6 seasons. There's just too much risk involved.
