Does anyone think it would be easier to get rid of Atkinson than getting rid of Risto to save money that way?

Atkinson has one year left on his contract @ 5.875M.
Risto has 3 @ 5.1M.

Much easier to get rid of Atkinson because it's essentially an expiring contract once the season starts.
@awaz just mentioned the buyout clause, which kind of spreads a portion of that out over two years.

I definitely dont want to buy him out:

Best case scenario we move him over the summer for a mid round pick
Next best case scenario we trade him at the deadline.
Next best case scenario nobody trades for him and he plays out his contract
Worst case scenario we resign him to a 5 year 35 million dollar contract.

Martin Nečas could be at the end of the line in Carolina. The 25-year old has offensive skill, and if he can move inside, he might be able to help solve the Flyers' center problem.
