listening to 1080 the fan and Isaac and suke were talking about the Oregon vs Washington game coming up in a couple weeks. Neither said the Pups stood a chance, Isaac even went as far as saying this thing is a 28 point win for Oregon.

I couldn't agree more, looking at each team and what they have done so far, Oregon is going to go up there and trounce Washington.

BTW, I think we can all agree on this. WTF is up with a 1 pm start time????????????? Why isn't this a night game? By the very least the FOX 4 PM start????

because 1pm games are 4pm eastern. they are far more viewed nationally than the 4 or 7 slots. Those are more regional. Night games suck for so many reasons. I'd much rather have the 12:30-1pm starts. That's college football.

Yep it's all Oregon fans -- yep it's all us -- are you really that ignorant? Where do you think the term Jelly came from? You guys are so envious, has been going on for years now. Ever since the Kenny Wheaton pick the Husky fan base gave no respect - so what did Oregon do -- beat the piss out of you for nine years in a row. Now the nation recognizes Oregon and UW is just another mid bowl team on a good year. We are trying to rise the rivalry by some banter, but your team just can't meet the challenge. Finally this year looks like the game will be somewhat competitive. Keep the smack coming Dawgs.

No offense mamba, but if you would step back from your hate and vitriol for a minute and really see what your base does you will see they/you have become that which you loathed in us. All we hear about is how much your people hate UW fans for the smack talk that happened over a decade ago and now that's all you people do. No joke, not trying to start a fight. This is the truth. Your fans are entirely obsessed and incapable of looking at what they have become.

Ok, forgive me the novel, any typos, or grammatical errors. I spent all day grading exams for students who do not know the difference between accept and except, weather and whether, correlations and causation, and affect or effect. As such, I decided to come home and drink beam and coke heavily after my kids were in bed.

WizardHaawk and RegentDenali offer good insight into the Stanford v. UW game. Here is my take.

UW defensively:
For UW to win, which is feasible, they must not stack the box like last year against Nunes and Taylor. If they do, for the first time since Owusu got his 2nd concussion, Hogan has the arm and presence, to throw over the DB's as seen in the WSU game. However, They have more mature athletes on the defensive side of the ball than last year, so even if they stack the box, I expect them to be able to at least be able to shut sown the dink routes in the flats, but Montgomery, Cajuste and Rector present a three headed deep threat that they have not seen from the Cardinal in some time. Additionally, they need to be prepped for Shaw to finally throw to the TE's, which he has actively avoided overall this season so far.

UW offensively:
Price has to not give up the rock. Remember, Stanford has a takeaway in 28 straight games, and with a game of field position, which, this may become, that is a huge issue. Secondly, ASJ must show up huge. Stanford has the athletes (Tarpley at the sam, or Reynolds at SS, to cover him) in his routes, but his size is still an issue. Stanford must get in front of him and front him on the routes, forcing Price to throw high.If Price tries to throw over the coverage, he will get some good completions, but also give up at least two INT's. Sankey is a beast, this means Gardner, Murphy and Skov must hold their lanes to force him to run where the want him to. If the do not, Sankey will have at least 200 yards on the ground, that will force Stanford to play catch-up.

Stanford Offensively:
The O line in the heavy sets has been suspect this year. They get great push, but are so closely grouped the RB's have no place to go, unless they bounce it outside.For Staford to win Hogan has to be cognizant f te coverages and be willing to call the play on the jumbo or elephant sets that bounces the RB's outside. Additionally, Shaw has been keeping the TE's on check in order to give the UW and Oregon teams an new wrinkle for the season, this forces the opponent to stack the box, and pay attention the speedsters on the wings, but leaves the middle open for the, here to for, unused TE's to make some key plays. UW has to cover a lot of bases to shut down the long ball and run which will leave the flats and middle routes open if Hogan does what he should do in this game.

Stanford Defensively:
For the farm workers to win, the D must come up huge. UW has enough deep threats, TE mismatches and Sankey runs to make it tough. Skov looks strong again this year, but he lives off of the containment of the OLB's and DE's. Mauro has looked stron, but he is not Andrersen. Gardner is the biggest surprise of his recruiting class, a heck of an athlete, but tends to over commit on the run. If UW can set up the run early (say 6 of 8 plays initially as runs for a gain) expect the DE's and OLB's to not provide as much pressure on Price in the non-normative running downs. If, however, Stanford can go up early and bottle up the run in the first quarter, look for the OLB and DE core to come hard on Price and put him on his back. FYI who is the UW back up QB?

Al of that said, If Stanford executes to perfection on both sides of the ball, I expect a final score in the range of Stanford 38, UW 14. If Stanford can execute to perfection in one phase and not the other, I see it as Stanford 27-UW 21. If, however, Stanford completely falls flat, it could end up UW 35 - Stanford 28.

Overall, my estimate is Stanford 34-UW 24.

Doubt I have even mentioned Oregon more than once or twice in 6 months and only in response to someone else. Hardly obsessive. How many times does OcD talk about UW per day? How many threads on the main board not related end up with ducks talking about Huskies? I really can't believe you don't see it. I know some of my base can be easily stirred up, but you can't see that's all some of yours do? Amazing.
