Uofa is 6th now that USC is garbage I pick them to finish 3rd in the South.
We're behind Utah and Washington State on those rankings?
What do you PAC fans think of the 2 big games with Nebraska/UCLA and Wisconsin/ASU? I notice the majority are picking UCLA and ASU, as I'd expect, but what are your thoughts on the teams?
I tend to agree on the UCLA/Nebraska game. I think it will be a shootout, though. Both offenses are potent and will move the ball. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw both teams in the 40s or 50s.
Wisky and ASU has the makings of a dogfight, with the amazing ASU defensive line going against the always great Wisconsin offensive line. White and Gordon will have to bring their A+ game, for sure, and the same goes for Marion Grice, who only has played 1 game but looked human on the ground. I could see this one being a 23-17 final, or something like that, with either team winning. Both teams, IMO, will be in their conference race.
mamba,
If not too much trouble could you address my score for the tie breaker game this week? I want to change it to 33-14 ASU. If not don't worry about it. I wont hate you forever, just for a week.
Kelly beating a Washington team. Nothing new here
Nebraska has the revenge factor and home field advantage vs UCLA. I don't know that it will be enough though. The Bruins are going to have their way with that D. Nebraska is going to have to keep up, and with their running game they are more than capable of that. Martinez scares me. Ive never been a fan and cant wait until he is gone, if they lose it will be because of him! (well and the D but look for Martinez to make a critical error that may cost the game). I agree that this one is going to be a shootout and have picked Nebraska to find a way to win.
I don't see ASU/whisky being close for long (I changed my thoughts on the score I made for my pick in this thread). ASU is in beast mode and they are hungry. Whisky is going to melting in that heat.
I agree with you a lot on the Nebraska thing. T-Mart is a hell of a playmaker, but he can certainly break your heart. I'd put the O/U on total rushing yards in that game at about 550.
On the Wisky-ASU game, though, What is ASU doing that Wisky isn't? I understand ASU looked great in their game against FCS Sac State, but Wisky has done the same thing but twice now. Neither team has been scored on. While ASU is averaging about 140 more yards in the air, Wisky is getting over 230 more yards on the ground. I don't see any argument for that game being a blowout as you suggest. By the time the game starts that night, the weather is gonna be in the 80s, with a low that night of 79, which isn't anything Wisconsin hasn't already played in twice now, so I don't get that either...
It was 108 for our game last week with a 7:00 PM kickoff time and didn't even drop 10 degrees by the end of the game. I wouldn't be surprised at all by a blowout given our history playing B1G/midwest teams at home but I expect a close game for 3 quarters and then for the heat, our tempo, and the late start time to be too much to handle for Wisconsin in the fourth quarter. Something like 24-17 ASU.
Conversely I think UCLA gets out to a slow start with the game starting at 9:00 pacific time. Based on how Nebraska has looked UCLA is the better team and should win but I wouldn't be surprised by either result.

So, I was flipping through the channels last night and when I came across the Pac12wa network feed I noticed they were just showing a retrospective of a game with Oregon in it. I paused to see what they were talking about and it turns out it was a look back at the 2000 civil war complete with commentary from joey and several beaver players. Good stuff it was. Joey went over how he had gone to the RB as a fan with his dad when he was like 12 and told him his name was going to appear right 'there' where the MVP names go for each game. He went into detail about that game and how close they were to a RB bid... but then the ducks had to give up 6 turnovers for the game and left with their duck bills in the dirt. Beaver fans rushed the field afterward and celebrated their first 10 win season in team history (ended up with 11 after spanking ND in fiesta). Best hour of TV I watched this week.
Colorado 38-16 in the Fiesta
