A tSEC school or one of the big bball schools would be likely. The NCAA is trying to reduce the one and done houses, but the NBA isn't willing to change its draft requirements so it's complicated. But when your hearing stories of athletes who went pro claiming they still completed freshman and soph years getting passing grades at major universities when they have a 3rd grade or less reading and writing skill, something eventually has to be investigated.

NC is one of those sacred golden calfs of college bball, but some of the stories of kids who arrive there unable to basically read, but they still played there. Something has got to give eventually...

Oh and calling it Furd tells me you have been hanging around too many Cal fans.

Furd seems to be the common nickname said these days, especially around the west coast and PAC fans. Didn't believe it had a diss type of thing built into it. Stanford doesn't really have a acronym like USC, ASU, or UW that most refer to it as, so seems most use the term Furd when talking informally about the school and it's athletics.

"Coming monster" would seem to indicate a top SEC school or maybe Notre Dame?

A coming monster could also refer to the type of event and potential controversy instead of the level of the school involved. Isn't speculation fun?

True, but it seems that it usually refers to the level of the school and/or conference. Of course, how big the school is can depend on the sport.

Football violations at Duke = :noidea:

Basketball violations at Duke =

Isn't there always a "coming monster"? You could pretty much say that generalization at any point and it be true.

It actually started with Cal (low apr U) fans spray painting all the signs on 101 in the late 80's (may have to check the dates). Their fans painted a U over the O in Stanford on all the road signs. The idea being Furd is like Turd. Damn golden bears (an extinct species FYI). It does not insult me, but my pops haaaaaates it.

BTW happy Father's day to you all....I am off to fly fish for a few days with my pops, no internet, no Wifi, no cell signal except about a 1 mile stretch of the river. Dry fly fishing with my dad is the best father's day present I can think of.

Have a great week y'all!

Have a great trip fishing with dad.

But considering we kick off PAC play this year with you coming up to Husky stadium and possible college game day being there, I'm gonna keep calling ya Furd for while longer. :suds:

Possible? there is nowhere near another game that would be considered.

Agreed. But....

They don't call it SEC game day for nothing. While it would be a perfect situation for a college game day (perfect fall conditions in the PACNW on the shores of Lake Washington and Petersens first game vs a PAC opponent who went to the Rose Bowl last year), we're talking about ESPN.

Tennessee @ Georgia

Arkansas v Texas A&M at Jerrah World

ESPN could easily take those over Stanford and Washington, even though both could enter that game undefeated and Furd ranked in the Top 10 and UW Top 20. Wouldn't shock me in the least that ESPN picks Arky v Tex A&M so they can do a two for one suck off of tSEC and Jerrah.

I won't bank on college game day coming to Montlake for that game until they announce it.

Unless either or both teams dropped an early upset. ohterwise both should be ranked top 20 by the time the game rolls around.
unless they see 2 Pac games in 4 weeks is too many. (Michigan State at Oregon)

Golden Nugget’s college football point spreads have arrived

Golden Nugget has released their 1st lines for the 2014 CFB season. These cover 200 games so far. Some are OOC, some are conf depending.

The full list is available at the link below so you can pick into your own teams games as it's organized by dates, not conferences.

For the Huskies, the opening spreads of the games they analyzed so far are:

UW +20 v Oregon
UW -6 v ASU
UW +3.5 v UCLA
UW +5 v Arizona
UW -7.5 v Oregon St
UW -4.5 v WSU

I figure the numbers Oregon will be getting for it's picks will be high considering their playoff caliber boosts. That number listed doesn't shock me, although depending on how well the team plays out of the gate for Petersen, I might take the +20 easy on that.

The number that did kind of shock me was ASU with us being favored like that, but since it's @UW, we might be getting some love there.

For the OOC games of the PAC the Nugget provided so far, it's:

FRIDAY 8/29

UNLV Rebels at Arizona Wildcats -23.5

SATURDAY 8/30

Colorado State Rams at Colorado Buffaloes -4 (Denver)
California Golden Bears at Northwestern Wildcats -9.5
UCLA Bruins -21.5 at Virginia Cavaliers

SATURDAY 9/6

USC Trojans at Stanford Cardinal -3.5
Michigan State Spartans at Oregon Ducks -13

SATURDAY 9/14

USC Trojans -23 at Boston College Eagle
UCLA Bruins -8 at Texas Longhorns (Arlington)

SATURDAY 9/20

San Diego State Aztecs at Oregon State Beavers -13

No I am pretty sure the 20 points for Oregon is because Oregon beat Washington by 21, 31, 17, 37, 24 and on and on
