A few teams that do that? I posted this years and last years OCC games for the top four SEC teams. They combined for TWO away games out of 32 while the PAC top four had 8 away games playing 8 fewer games. USC played two road OCC games in 2013 by itself. So spare me with the "few teams that do that" . The ones at the top of the SEC are the worse. The schedule cupcakes as second to last game of the season.
You are a hypocrite ... most teams play a bad OOC schedule, but you won't acknowledge that. Not much else I can say until you admit that.

Ummmm . Georgia plays Troy and second to the last game of the season they play Charleston Southern. If you think thats excusable you're making our point. Maybe playing them in Basketball could be interesting but when you play a team where every single player with be going on to a career in something other than football then you are playing a practice game.
We also play GaTech and Clemson, but you conveniently forgot that. And, in the Richt era, in all but 2 years we've played 2 BCS OOC. I'm fine with my Dawgs ... you just didn't do your research, and then cherry picked 2 games. Few here are on your side with regard to the Dawgs OOC.

It amazes me that you don't get it ... everyone else gets a pre-season to work out the kinks. The SEC starts IC play in week 1, playing many important IC games while most other teams are playing the OOC games getting warmed up. The SEC then has to have some OOC games at the end of the year and has chosen a week to do it, giving them what is basically a bye week. I would prefer 3 or 4 OOC games to start the season, but I don't get a vote. But you guys crying about this has really gotten tiresome when you don't acknowledge the lack of a pre-season, and the fact that at least 4 SEC teams finish the year with tough OOC grudge games. :L

So what "kinks" are you working out on the second to the last game of the season where Georgia has to play Charleston Southern? The point you don't get is you actually play the North Texas-Troy- Charleston Southern- Appalachian State- Buffalo-Florida Atlantic- Georgia Southerns of the world. Not so much when you play them. The fact that you get a bye and call it a win on the second to last game just adds to the farce. USC plays Stanford on the second game of the season which is a Pac 12 team. I guess using your logic they should scratch Fresno State or Boston College and schedule North Atlas school of trucking to make up for that because they didn't get the "kinks" worked out before they played Stanford.

Why should PAC Coaches care what the SEC does
The PAC at one time played a round robin, so every team played every team, which is the best format in terms of crowning a champion in a conference.
They went to 12 teams and 2 divisions because of money.
The SEC stays at 8 conference games because of money.
If the PAC did what they did because of money, then why the fuck are they even talking about what the SEC does.

Here's an idea.
KEEP YOUR FUCKING MOUTHS' SHUT ABOUT IT, HYPOCRITES.
or go back to playing everyone in a round robin format.

This^ It won't mean a thing once the playoffs are on.

the point is that you're not removing 14 wins

Yes you are. Even lawdawg said it went without saying. Is pathetic that this is how you are trying to defend it.

Even if you want to account for some rare cupcake loss you are taking about at worst 6.5 more loses a year average. Sorry but that's reality.

Let's see if I can clear this up for you. First, I am not talking only about USCw ... I am talking about all 130 Division I teams. Looking at your schedule, some PAC schools play early IC games. I don't think any other league other than the SEC and some in the PAC do that.

Obviously, the SEC teams aren't working out kinks in their November games. The point is that you either get 3/4 OOC games in September that amounts to a pre-season to get the kinks worked out, or you start the season off playing relevant IC games before the kinks are worked out. Personally, I like the idea of the pre-season, but the SEC doesn't. That means we play USCe in a game in week 2 or week 3 that for both teams pretty much eliminates their SEC East hopes, or at least makes it so that the losing team doesn't control their own destiny. Again, I'd rather play USCe in week 8 or 9, not week 2 or 3, But, that is the way it is. So, because we play early IC games, we have to play late OOC games. No other way to work it. The SEC does it in a way that it is an effective bye week for the SEC teams. I have no problem with that ... other teams get a pre-season the SEC doesn't get, we get a bye week later you don't get. If you don't like that, change your schedule and play IC games early (by the way, unless I am mistaken, some PAC schools seem to be doing that this year as you indicate ... other conferences don't do this).

I would point out that USC does play a late November game OOC right before your UCLA rivalry game. You have to do because in most years you play an early IC game. You get credit for that. But, don't forget that UF, UGa, UK, and USCe all play FSU, GaTech, Louisville, and Clemson OOC in the last games of the year. I doubt you'll complain about that, but not expecting you to give an credit for it either.

But, now you say it isn't when it is played, it is who we play. Which is it? Who or when? I am in agreement on not playing FCS schools, but we could just as easily schedule Kansas or the like and still get a bye week.

In any event, it isn't as lopsided as you want to paint it, in my opinion. But we aren't going to change each others minds, I suspect.

AP Wire Service:

Oregon State University announced today that it will be closing it's Business School and right-wing think tank branch of the Heritage Foundation. Savings to the University will be 150 million dollars. When ask why, the school indicated the cost saving cuts were due to the changing attitude all over campus and among all facility and administrators within the Budget department. Sources indicated the cost savings would be passed on over to the Athletic Department immediately.

So that means VCR repair and farming are the only other majors offered at OSU now? Nice.

Well, they will be favored in all of their games. Now to execute and stay healthy. Love the defensive toughness and nasty edge Pellum has installed.

The WRs are disgustingly good and deep. Very pleased with Devon Allen, Darren Carrington, and Dwayne Stanford. They looked very good. Couple them with Lowe (the units leader) and Brown, Baylis, and Mundt at TE. Mariota has plenty of weapons to get the ball to. Also, how bout Tyner catching passes.

He is going to be special this season.

And you doubted me when I said they would be a top 3 team. Tyner will be a 1st Round Pick after his Jr season.

I did doubt they would start the season top 3. Looks like they may just be in there.

I think I am going to like the Pellum era quite a bit.

Of course I realize that, but I am not a BigXII fan puffing out my chest as if we decided to do that on purpose. That said, what you PAC guys are arguing can only truly be solved by playing all the teams. And, the BigXII is the only one doing that right now. Even though involuntary, they are the only league that can say our champion played every team in the league.

If the SEC went to 9 games, and if its dominance continued, you guys would just argue we need to play 10 IC games. You'll always find some reason to minimize what the SEC has done the past decade. I am sure of that.

I disagree. All anyone is asking for is a level playing field in that conferences don't stack the deck in their own favor as the SEC has been doing. I've actually commended the SEC for figuring out the easiest path to get one of it's teams in the NCG every season. I've also agreed that regardless of how they got there, they still have to win the game, which they managed to do for 7 straight seasons until FSU beat Auburn in the most recent.

What I find disingenuous on the part of some SEC fans in their insistence that playing 7-8 home games every season, having an 8 game IC schedule and playing as many as 4 cupcakes each season somehow equates to a path that is just as difficult as what other conferences do.

There's simply no way to argue that the SEC hasn't figured out how to game the system and used it to their advantage. The SEC isn't doing anything that is outside the rules, but claiming it doesn't provide an advantage for the conference is simply untrue.

Wiz, I believe what he is getting at is that if the SEC went to a 9 game IC schedule, it wouldn't eliminate 14 wins for the conference, it would mean 7 fewer wins for the conference.

The SEC had a cumulative record of 103-65 last season. If they had played a 9 game IC schedule, the cumulative record would drop to 96-72, that's 7 fewer wins for the conference, not 14.

Basically, he's arguing a technicality to avoid having to deal with the overall point of your post.:suds:

Ya, we had to order 2 dozen biscuits to go (for snacks later on) is what the kids said.

Got two orders of appetizers. All 3 of the oldest boys got their own Ultimate feast dinner. Then I ordered them an Admirals Platter to split with all the fried seafood. They burned through all that plus the endless in restaurant biscuits and soda. The baby chowed down on chicken and fries followed by ice cream... I got some damn platter with scallops grilled shrimp and lobster. Good Lord. Not even sure of what the wifey got. Wonder if they roll out the red carpet for us next time we come.

Eating that much food? They'll probably lock the doors and tell you to call at least 48 hours ahead so they can be certain to have enough for the other customers!!:suds:

So you say other conferences get a "pre season" to "work out the kinks" and that the SEC plays some IC games early so they make it up by scheduling late season games against these ridiculous OCC games against teams that dont have a single NFL player on the roster. So do you think the SEC just doesnt get that the "kinks" need to get worked out? That cupcakes are meant to be played early to warm up? Or do they schedule it this way because in a IC game one of your conference teams is going to lose no matter what so it doesnt matter when you play them but the advantage of having a practice against North Texas late in the season and resting your starters after halftime and chalking up a win is way better than playing a conference foe and getting players hurt or tired or adding that late loss.No it couldnt be that right? LOL. You make it sound so easy for the Pac to just do the same thing. So why is it that the SEC cant move the cupcakes to the beginning of the season ? You act like thats impossible for some reason.
As for the teams you play. Well what are the chances a Troy a North Texas a Towsend a Charleston Southern is going to have a good team and catch an LSU or Alabama looking forward to the next game and actually give them a scare or beat them? When is that happening? What are the chances those teams will have more than maybe one NFL caliber player on the roster? Now What are the odds a Boston College a Virginia a Fresno State a Hawaii a Syracuse are going to have a few NFL players on the roster? What are the chances they could actually give you a scare or even win ?And lord forbid you have to actually go to their house the next year. This is what you ignore.
When is the last time Alabama -LSU - Georgia played Troy or North texas or Charlton southern or Townsend at their home stadium?

Troy's had more players drafted in the past 5 years than Boston College has. Pretty much even with Virginia, Fresno, and Hawaii
