Do not "criticize the SEC"
There is "Free Speech" and the consequences of "Free Speech". Many do not understand the difference.
Do not "criticize the SEC"
There were many that were talking up how good Mississippi State was a few years ago when they rolled into the Alabama game 7-0 and ranked 11. They played no one even close to a winning record but that was another "ranked win" for Alabama that year that Tiders were rubbing one off over.
Right, so Oregon football players like to undress around men in uniforms.
Not that there's anything wrong with that of course.
Actually, it's not a fact at all.
No one can dispute the SEC's championships. But if those teams, by playing one more conference game each, and by not scheduling so many 'patsies' get a few more losses, then they will be ranked lower.
If they are ranked lower, then they have fewer chances of getting into the championship game. If they cant get into the championship game, they cant win championships.
It's just speculation, except that for the extra conference games, some conference team will get another loss. That is a fact.
What would that mean in the long run? In the polls? I don't know, but in any case we aren't going to find out now. Maybe in a few years, after the new system shakes out, conferences are going to have to even everything out: CCGames, number of conference opponents each year, level of OOC scheduling. As it is now, it's a hodgepodge.
I think the fact that I'm thinking about is, if you played more conference games, half those games will be losses to one or the other. That is a fact. Right? I mean, the games wont be ties.
This happens every year to a couple of teams ... MSU was the team that year. West Virginia a few years earlier. I think TexasTech was a good example of that team this past year. If you follow college football, this isn't an SEC thing ... happens every year. Sorry to bust your anti-SEC narrative, but you will need to have more than this. There were many that were talking up how good Mississippi State was a few years ago when they rolled into the Alabama game 7-0 and ranked 11. I known you are kidding, but do you not expect us to defend against the attacks? I have no problem with you guys airing your anti-SEC sentiments, so I don't expect you to mind it when we defend. Seems fair to me.Do not "criticize the SEC"
LOL. Have you ever even looked at UGa's OOC schedule in the Richt era? Don't bring a knife to a gun fight, son. They're still a middle tier team that the SEC sells as a marque matchup and as a powerhouse every year.
They get inflated rankings because they have 7 fewer losses than they normally would with a real schedule
This simply proves you guys aren't too smart when it comes to scheduling. Face it, the SEC isn't going to give up having 8 home games most every year. Just isn't going to happen. Too profitable for the schools and the towns/cities they are located in. Instead of crying here, contact your AD and tell them to schedule better. You can point at FCS games, I'm with you there. You can say you play 3 OOC and we play 4 ... I don't necessarily agree, but it's a fair argument. Home games OOC? Nah, don't care about that when you could do the same thing. This year and last years OCC schedule for the top four from the Pac 12 and the SEC.
I just looked this up. What jumps out to me is 32 OCC games for the SEC and only 2 away games. The pac had 24 games and yet had four times the away games. So Eight more games and Six more away games. If you expand this list to include the whole conference ( multiply by three fro the pac 12) and even though the SEC has two more teams they would still be no where near the games and pathetically lagging in away games. Auburn and Alabama have been great teams I'm not saying they are not but these four SEC teams played Two OCC games on the road against Clemson and Kansas State in two years . While those four Pac teams went to play Notre dame twice Virgina twice, Nebraska , Texas, Army and New Mexico .
