These off season debates are funny. The facts can't be disputed, but our SEC fans can't possibly admit it.

The pattern is clear. Most SEC teams play a set conference schedule, the same 7 every year, only one rotating. Out of conference they play 3/4 of their games at home against mostly patsies. They play more FCS schools than any other conference and seldom travel outside of the South. In any given year, one can count on one hand the number of inter-regional games in which a top SEC school plays a top school from another conference, even fewer true road games.

The SEC does this deliberately. They have convinced the nation that they are the best conference, heck they probably are, and will take no chances that this preconceived annual notion gets challenged.

You see, if you play tough teams, you might lose. If you play FCS, Sun Belt, and last place MAC teams, you won't lose unless all the wheels come off. Gasp, if SEC teams played honest schedules, they'd lose more games, and then not everyone would believe their "we are the only conference that plays football" propaganda.

Why is there even an argument?:noidea:

Anyone who usually goes up against Whiz better be well versed and factually prepared...

Bottom line..in the end the Whiz will "own" you and leave ya butthurt out in the middle of nowhere on a rainy nite naked.

UWUB serves em up smart even IF the team can't play football...since the DJ era anywhoze.
Oh I don't know. They seemed to play just fine last year at Reser. Scored 69 I believe...
Fine. Then the SEC doesn't need your approval and you can keep on crying about it while the SEC has the success you wish you did.

Good Day.
The SEC success? You mean that smoke and mirrors right.

All I want is a better product. For the Pac. For the SEC. For all of college. If you want to have more selfish or minor goals then so be it.

National Championships are smoke and mirrors and minor goals?

Yeah, all the conferences often have 5 top 10 teams in the rankings.

Ole Miss and Miss St are both SEC west teams and I rarely hear anyone mention them. Considering the other SEC west teams are: Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Texas A&M and Arkansas(top10 often until recently). The 2 teams you are mentioning are the bottom 2 SEC West teams, not the middle. And still they manage to win decent games, like Ole Miss beating Texas last year.

Tell you guys what. I will be more than happy to go team by team with the SEC vs any conference and lets see which conference is the deepest. But nobody will want to do that because it's much easier to just say "9 is more than 8, so obviously better".

This topic is a joke and the acme of pettiness.

many of these preseason top 10 rankings are undeserving. as bad as florida was. georgia falling out of top 25. the bias still lives. those teams will still be in top 15. and teams who aren't ranked like tennessee, arkansas. if they beat a fcs team and a sunbelt team they vault into top 25

nice stadium pics Reg. WIll be awesome Devil fans.

I just hope you put in personal AC units in every seat. Can you get those included in the price of a $225 mil stadium nowadays?

I hope so. Because you won't catch the Mamba down there in that part of the country again to watch the Ducks unless it is in January.

Taking out the seats in the north end zone gives better ventilation and the metal bleachers are being replaced with seats so the stadium will be about 10 degrees cooler on game days. Still really hot in September but a little more bearable.

Aw, come on down, Mamba, and root for your Ducks in the CCG. Its not just the weather that's hot in Tempe! Always an excuse for another beer or better (if you should need one). Just take the feathers off your ride...:suds:

THIS. Is the most interesting point in all this to me. I don't think the fans stop to realize this? Because, it is a fact. And those seven losses could, possibly, knock some team out of the championship hunt...

Actually, it's not a fact at all.

Honestly it would mostly be the lower teams getting those extra losses, but yes it would risk derailing some of the higher teams as well. I mean the extra non division game could well end up putting two big teams that otherwise wouldn't have faced each other in a game that kills one of them.

In any event it normalizes the conference win/loss totals that so many SEC fans try to use as proof they are kings. Several of the teams that barely make bowls now would fail to do so with 9 and that's just an outright fact.

Glad you noticed your mathematical error

I'd just like to get rid of the FCS opponent every year

I'd rather keep the FCS and replace the other mid-major with a major conference team. Doing away with the FCS game would just add another mid-major

Historically UGA has played the best BCS opponents over the past 25 years in the SEC

They're still a middle tier team that the SEC sells as a marque matchup and as a powerhouse every year.

They get inflated rankings because they have 7 fewer losses than they normally would with a real schedule

There were many that were talking up how good Mississippi State was a few years ago when they rolled into the Alabama game 7-0 and ranked 11. They played no one even close to a winning record but that was another "ranked win" for Alabama that year that Tiders were rubbing one off over.

This year and last years OCC schedule for the top four from the Pac 12 and the SEC.
I just looked this up. What jumps out to me is 32 OCC games for the SEC and only 2 away games. The pac had 24 games and yet had four times the away games. So Eight more games and Six more away games. If you expand this list to include the whole conference ( multiply by three fro the pac 12) and even though the SEC has two more teams they would still be no where near the games and pathetically lagging in away games. Auburn and Alabama have been great teams I'm not saying they are not but these four SEC teams played Two OCC games on the road against Clemson and Kansas State in two years . While those four Pac teams went to play Notre dame twice Virgina twice, Nebraska , Texas, Army and New Mexico .

Stanford – Oregon- Ucla- Arizona State

UC Davis South Dakota Virginia(@) Weber state
Army (h) Michigan State Memphis New Mexico (@)
Notre dame (@) Wyoming Texas(@) Notre dame
San Jose State Nicholls State Nevada Sacramento State
Army (@) Virginia (@) Nebraska (@) Wisconsin
Notre Dame Tennessee New Mexico St. Notre dame (@)

Alabama- Auburn- Missouri- South Carolina

West Virginia San Jose State South Dakota State East Carolina
Florida Atlantic Kansas State (@) Toledo Furman
Western Carolina Samford Univ Central Florida South Alabama
Southern Miss Louisiana tech Indiana Clemson (@)
Virginia Tech Washington State Murry State North Carolina
Colorado State Arkansas State Toledo Univ Central Florida

Another way to look at it. USC Played just as many road OCC games in once year (2 in 2013) as did those four SEC teams did in two years. Pathetic

Mamba,
Love the Dr. Jack tribute. I attended Lewis & Clark back in the 70's. Watching Lillard win last night was Rip City all over again. Been a long time since I could cheer the Blazers.
