I'd say:

North

Oregon
Stanford
Washington
Oregon St.
Wazzou
Cal

South

UCLA
USC
ASU
Arizona
Utah
Colorado

That is probably how I'd rank it for both the North and South. I think that the Petersen hire was the right move, but I believe it will take a year before the Huskies will be able to leap frog Stanford. Plus, we also have questions at QB and HB going into the season.

I would change one thing on your post 234,(noticed I left the SF off that?) TF standings look just right but UW secondary will be very young, true freshmen back there, and in this conference that can either hurt you or they have to grow up very, very fast. So instead of RB for the Dawgs I'm going QB and Secondary...

Mariota returning well sucks for the rest of the Conference, this kid is very talented at running and throwing the ball, OSU also in my eyes could very well be the sleeping giant that can shit all over teams in the North if they dial it in this year.

The south is anyone's game, SC new staff, but has talent, ASU could be tough, but replace a lot of folks on defense, and UCLA I'm just not sold on the coaching staff, I know they have talent, but "one hit wonders" need to come back year in and year out to show they are legit....

Before Spring game PAC predictions...

North:
1.Oregon
2.Washington
3.Stanford
4.Oregon State
5.Washington St.
6.CAL

South:
1.UCLA
2.Arizona State
3.Arizona
4.USC
5.Utah
6.Colorado

PAC-12 title game:

Oregon vs UCLA

PAC-12 Champion:

Oregon
If coach Riley keeps Mannion in at QB, I see OR St finishing between Wash St and Cal. If the Beavs get ANYONE else to QB the team, I'd say they have a chance to be 2nd or 3rd in the N div. :gaah::gaah:

I did consider the secondary, but they are returning Marcus Peters; who played extremely well last year and will likely only getting better. I also believe that the new scouting staff will improve the technique of our defensive players in comparison to what we saw from the Sark regime.

I haven't been following things in spring practice much, but perhaps they should consider moving Shaq Thompson back to SS, and use him as a hybrid SS/LB sort of how the Seahawks do with Kam Chancellor.

I would have considered bumping USC over UCLA, but I really do like what Mora has got going on at UCLA. I expect USC to improve under Sark, their defense will improve a bunch with Wilcox as the defensive coordinator.

Thank you for not calling me SF :suds: :laugh3:

Why IS THIS GUY even considered a Beaver fan? Ever since "fumbler" Vaz crapped his pants @ Stanford 2 years ago he has been a vocal loser of our club. Sorry Native, one of the top5 passers in the Nation disappoints you. Get a life or jump back on the wagon this year. LMFAO!

:wtf2: You talk as if Vaz actually got to play some and kept fumbling the ball away. Vaz had ONE fumble against Stanford that ended up in a lost game he had been winning for 54 minutes. You carry Mannion's jock strap in your pocket and are too enamored with his records for throwing 1-5 yd passes for completions. Mannion can't throw more than 10 yards accurately and anything longer is a "hail mary". Mannion might have a record for short completions but also has the record for most INTs thrown and a 6 win season while setting all his records doesn't impress me. When Mannion got hurt halfway through the season, Vaz came off the bench, using the same offense as Mannion, won all but the Stanford game while you make excuses for Mannion's ineptness, INTs, and losses. I'm a Beaver fan alright, but I want the Beavs to win games, not have a "record setting loser" at QB. :L

Funny you mention Shaq Thompson, one of the articles Regent or Wiz posted on our board had Coach Petersen saying he is "pondering" the idea of throwing Thompson in the backfield like Jack at UCLA....

As for Peters returning in the secondary, yes a great DB, but being a Hawks fan (and being knowledgeable of the game of football) you know that it takes more then one person in that secondary, Baker is gonna be the possible missing link in that secondary...

Go figure...2 Beaver fans so far apart on the direction of this club it makes a man wanna puke.

Native blames ALL the Beaver losses on 1 guy, our QB...Shawn Mannion. What a fucking cesspool of lost goo he is. Like 80 other guys on the club shouldn't be doing some soul searching here.

I find it interesting that despite all the loses on the defensive side of the ball for Stanford, the 1st and 2nd team D held the O scoreless despite the returning receivers and Hogan being in sync. I wonder if the team is not going to drop off as much as people outside of you fine folks here on the P12 board think. I have seen national guys saying Stanford will finish 4th in the north this year.

I suppose it's possible that they could finish as low as 4th, but I think Stanford has developed a style/program that isn't too difficult for them to maintain. It fits the type of athlete that Stanford attracts like a glove.

To me, they have become almost a cfb version of the San Antonio Spurs. Because of their system and their discipline, they may not always win it, but they are always in the mix. I don't think some of the national guys realize that just yet.

That is media folks that have no idea what there talking about. This is were folks don't understand how a "stable program" can compete year in and year out, right now its Stanford and Oregon that own the Pac, they have been the last 6 to 7 years, and until another program gets into that "stable" state.

Having your own Defense hold your own Offense scoreless isnt as impressive because they have a better understanding of the offense than a true opponent would.

The impressive part to me is that we are using untested kids in the FS and ILB spot and they were able to cover the battle tested receivers well.

Having your defense outplay your offense in early spring means nothing. Absolutely nothing. The offense should take more time to get back into rhythm than the defense. Besides I doubt the offense works on the entire scope of plays at this stage. Hell, UW isn't even running full plays yet. They are just working on fundamentals at this point.
