Congrats to the Huskies. Petersen is a great fit for you. Since USC just wouldn't be a good fit for him, I can't think of a PAC school that I'd rather see get him.

Just don't let him put in Purple turf!!

It's weird how this all worked out. Mora's got to be thanking you guys as well for getting him a fat raise. Crazy week in the PAC, no freaking doubt and bowls haven't even started.

Thanks bro. Just don't take it hard when a lot of his assistants are named as coming over here as well as he builds his UW staff. When Sark bailed, it was easy to assume the possibility that some of the great staff would stay intact, but in these circumstances, it usually means a lot of the talented coordinators and assistants are leaving as well. That's just how a lot of these hires work at college level. Painful to watch them all go, but as we learned, exciting once the new staff starts being built.

You'll get a good new coach and let the new era begin.

You can have them, Regent. That's part of the reason we sucked so bad this year. All of our best assistants with the exception of maybe Coach K have already been poached away by the big boys over the past few years.

Terms of the deal out:

5 years - 3.6 mil a year. Makes him the highest paid coach in the PAC currently.

Definitely an interesting week. Things are rarely boring in the PAC.

I think that USC, UW and UCLA all made out great with their coaches. In college football, for a coach to be successful, it's almost as much about how well he fits as it is how well he can coach.

Sark is a great fit for USC. He understands the culture, traditions and expectations better than any other candidate.

Petersen just wouldn't be a good fit at USC, but I believe that he's a great fit at UW. There is a reason that Petersen has turned down UCLA 3 times and USC once. He doesn't want to be in L.A. At UW, he gets a program that is on it's way back and now he can finish the job.

Mora seems a good fit at UCLA and has brought a toughness to the program that they have never had in their history. USC hiring Sark brought about UW's flirtation with Mora which caused UCLA to lock him up for 6 years.

All in all, all 3 fanbases should be happy.

Also, nothing definitive yet and certainly no announcements yet, but listening to the radio a guy who doesn't make a lot of predictions and is rarely wrong when he does, says that Wilcox and Lupoi will be joining Sark at USC.

Unfortunate if true. so USC caved and is going to pay the buyout on Wilcox? I thought that was a major hangup.

Hadn't heard about USC having issues with Wilcox's buyout. Who knows though? Like I said, he usually isn't wrong (at least when it comes to USC), but he also prefaced the statement with "I'm not an insider, but......"

I will say this for him, he said that USC coaches were in Pennsylvania talking to Silas Redd and that Redd was coming to USC before anyone else knew.

Thats cool. Yes the buyout is the hangup. It's $1,000,000 for Wilcox. I've heard they would pay for Lupois (not sure the amount) but Lupoi wont go without Wilcox.

Like that.

Well I hope your sources are better than Mamba's. His didn't work out so much. :laugh3:

Seriously though, the assistant coaches do make a difference, but you pay for the right head coach and it is his vision that counts. It is his ability to find talented coaches and get the most out of them. UW had the best overall coaching staff maybe in the history of the school under Sark (bob rondeau agrees) and now it is Petersen's turn to assemble what he can here.

I'm sure Pete will bring in a few from BSU, but let's face it, he is in a much bigger pond now and likely needs to look around for upgrades. If we hired the right guy he will find them and build something worthy of calling themselves huskies.

When I saw the first tweets rolling in I was like this:

Then it was this with more confirmations:

Then when pics of his name on Husky stadium billboards got posted and confirmation from Husky AD, I went to this:

Every other Dawgs here and I've talked to today, are doing this for years to come:

My guess would be that if Sark wants Lupoi and Wilcox and they are a package deal, then there's likely a couple of mega bucks donors saying "Get them, we'll handle the buyouts".

We'll see, though. These situations are always fluid until everyone signs on the dotted line.
