If its the last game of the year and Washington needs Oregon to beat Oregon State in order to win the division. I cant see why a Huskies fan would not root for Oregon to win that game. There are certain situations that do take precedent over rivalries. If we need UCLA to beat Utah. Or ND to beat Stanford for example. For USC to make the PAC South CCG. Rooting for our rival is no different than rooting for USC at that point.
Real fans always want what's best for their team even if that means their rivals winning. That's what separates true football fans from the pretenders.

In the end a championship or your teams success. Is much more devastating to your rival. And fulfilling for your team as a fan imo

Yep, needing someone to clear the path for you is the mark of a true champion.

Circumstantial. SC has had undefeated seasons. But in this scenario when the games of your rivals hold a direct bearing on your team. Rooting for them in a game in which you need another team to lose to benefit your team. Its no different from rooting for your team. I also prefer to keep the rivalry between the teams anyway. An ASU victory over UCLA is not a USC victory over UCLA. Seems a bit vicarious for me. SC's success takes importance over a rival beating a team they need to lose. The big picture

Tbh if an Oregon or Washington State win puts the huskies in the play offs. I find it hard to believe you do not root for Oregon or Wazzou in said game

Yes, I understand what we're talking about here... thanks for the rundown anyway...

And there is no oregon or Washington state win that will put the Huskies in the playoffs.

Furthermore, I never claimed I wouldn't want a rival to win if it would benefit the Huskies. In fact, I said I'd be indifferent. I'm commenting on the ridiculousness of someone questioning someone else's fandom based on such a topic. It's not like you riding oregon's ass hairs, it's a pretty stupid thing to form that opinion.

Why wouldn't a fan always want what's best for their team?

It's pretty much a no brainer. If your rival winning helps your team's cause then you damn well better be pulling for your rival if you want to be considered a real fan.
Why do you give a fuck what anyone else does with their fandom? Do you really feel the need to insult and belittle people that simply have a different opinion? Stop being a total jackass about it. There are people who are more tied up in rivalries than others. So what?

I didn't say this year I stated if the scenario existed. You would root for either team under that set circumstance.Sorry but I have to agree withal alaskaguy the logic makes sense.

What's a scenario in which Washington would need oregon to win to go to the playoff?

And no need to apologize, I don't give a fuck, tour opinion means nothing to me.

That's because you and I are real fans. We want what's best for our teams no matter what.

So you use logic and rivalry in the same sentence. You don't know what goes into that for others. You can't. I've had family members attacked by duck fans. The hate runs very very deep. You guys can sit there on your high horses judging others and making blanket claims if you like. I do think it's kind of stupid to attempt to hold everyone else to whatever opinions you have, but it is what it is.
